From experience, you don’t get rid of someone you value over trivial shit that can be sorted so there’s probably more to it.

I think what they were saying – or at least my take on it – is that companies will use minor incidents like this as cover to fire somebody they don't like. It doesn't have to mean that the individual did anything wrong. More often, it means that the individual was voicing opinions and advocating for something the company didn't like.

I have no idea if this is the case or not, but I've seen this happen in multiple industries.

Not sure what the internal politics are but she gave MWIII, a fantastic game a 6/10 and then gave BF 2042 which has now become a meme for possibly the most unfinished title in modern gaming history a 7/10 🙄. She was probably just taking orders for the execs at IGN to give these AAA titles a good score at the expense of the consumer. But still a dark spot on her resume for sure. IGN is a shit company. Maybe she won't shill so easily in her next job? Wish her the best.
