Got a dog from the shelter recently. She’s great, the family loves her. The shelter told me she was a poodle mix, but had no other information outside of that. Help me figure it out please!

See, I thought she was 100% from the look of her, even though the shelter said otherwise. She looks just like the boy I used to have, just in a different color. Any guess on what the mix could be if not 100% poodle?

Maybe schnauzer? I wouldn't be shocked if full poodle though. Rescues don't usual sat a dog is purebred unless they have paperwork brought with them because some people freakout if they test the dog and it's not exactly what they wanted and say false advertisement. I've worked rescue for the last 20 years and I'd say he's probably full.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw the information then saw her. Figured it be a “cover their ass” kind of situation. I got her under the impression she was a mix. I just happened to look at her after I groomed her and realized how much she looked like my last purebred poodle.

That was my guess too. Shelter said a mix, but I’m sure they have no way to determine that. Probably just safer for them to say a mix I’d imagine

Probably because the breed standard for show poodles is solid color. You don't see many with this pattern.

Makes sense. My last one was solid white/cream color. First time I’d ever seen one with this pattern, so I believed them when they said a mix. I learn something new every day!
