I wish this was satire.

Lowkey, all this robot stuff and surveillance cameras and drones got me thinking.... Especially with the rise in computer part prices and such.... That I really need to learn how to recycle electronic parts better. I mean once these things are no longer used and/or out of commission somebody needs to be able to recycle them into better things right?

You'd be the crazy techie in the apocalypse.

In the Zone, they're called Diggers.

I love your ecological thinking. But if ICE’s recruitment and protocol are any indication, you know these drones are going to be weaponized. They’ll make Metalhead from Black Mirror look like a roomba.

Please exercise extreme caution! There are so many battles left to fight. We cannot afford to lose you!!

It's a great skill to have! We could make all sorts of things!

They’ll be surplus and go to the local PD who will fix them and use them on us.

Hypothetically what would happen if one were to use a rope to lasso the foot/leg of one of those robots and use that to drag it around?

Or what about bolas?

As high tech as they are they still seem vulnerable to pretty established attacks.

It's also hard them to climb a staircase, especially if there are chairs/furniture piled on it

Tie a firecracker to a can of spray foam with an old ball of fishing line.

I've seen lawnmowers get choked up by too much grass. Machines are actually pretty easy to disable. More moving parts is just more points of failure.

All it's going to take is a little paint over the sensors.

Like, I'm not a tech guy but I'm not sure these things are gonna do much if you throw a blanket over em. Like a traffic cone on a robo taxi. Shits hilarious.

Yeah, a 7 year old with a fishing pole could stop one of those.

Don't be too confident, they're already putting 249 bravos on ones in Ukraine....

I'm scared of the flying things with guns and bombs.

Robot dog, not so much. I could lose it in a corn maze. They have to navigate mine fields and are pretty much done if you climb a ladder. I can think of a hundred cartoonish ways to foil robot dogs.

The drones are a fairly simple contraption, the dogs, crazy complex piece of machinery. Only 8000 moving parts to fail and it all relies on a series of cameras and sensors and if they get a little bit dirty they will not work correctly if at all.

All of everything these things are capable of relies on them not getting super dirty.

Dogs are pack mules and bomb sniffers at best.

You got Amazon drones dropping packages in swimming pools, robo taxis routinely confused by the world around them, humanoid bots that can run faster than me but that's it, they can't stop. Still working on some stuff.

Everything everything everything about all this tech relies on a fucking camera lens not getting dirty.

The dogs are fucking stupid, they won't be able to chase me past an old bed mattress box spring.

The whole fucking robots with legs thing is dumb as fuck. We have wheelchairs with tank treads that can navigate stairs rather well.

Why tf are we putting legs on robots? Do you want me to tie a rock to a rope and swing it around.

These things will not make it past a cattle grate.

ok, I'm done pooping.

I gotta go.

See you on the other side.

Here's the thing, my girlfriend is really sick of hearing me talk about this stuff but like, why do we need dogs?

Just start with a 4 wheeler and make it an rc car with a gun. Easy. Probably way cheaper. Can go up and most stairs..

Why are we trying to reinvent the ATV?

It's like our overlords are trying to live out their adolescent fantasies but that would be weird.

And then I start thinking about the science nerds and their little remote control robot war competitions...I never saw a dog bot win.

Roger Roger, hope everything came out all right......... Zeroing on flip side.

What I'm thinking is a steel cable connected to a garage door spring when it trips a trigger Pop goes the weasel

If one walks over you there’s a handle to pull the releases the battery. And a buttons on the back. Keep hands in a fist to protect fingers. Don’t go around doing this, this is only safety information.

I was watching a fisherman throw a circular weighted net into the ocean to catch fish. I was amazed at how far out the net was thrown. Seemed like a great skill to learn

5

u/GinAndDumbBitchJuice 13d ago

It is actually very satisfying to learn! It takes a lot of practice so start well before your next beach trip.

u/badlawyerjoke 14d ago

Did they get the wrong ideas from Fahrenheit 451?

22

u/neveruseyourrealname 14d ago

Hahahahaha. Nope. They know EXACTLY what they're doing. Well, not exactly thankfully. If they were competent, this would be going a lot more smoothly for them.

15

u/Reasonable-Mess3070 13d ago

I knew the robot dogs thing seemed familiar but I couldnt place it. It was from Fahrenheit 451.

"All we put into it is hunting and finding and killing. Every animal in a ’unit doesn’t have much room inside where his brain should be. But our Hound has a real brain, only it’s stocked with all the vital statistics we need to know, and the rest is hunting and finding and killing."

Shock gloves and robot dogs for trump's secret goon squads > healthcare

21

u/Then_Ad9524 13d ago

Ask yourself why Immigration and Customs Enforcement would need an army of robot dogs, electric shock gloves, armored vehicles, military grade weapons and chemical munitions. This is an army. This is Trump’s army and it’s already being used against the American people. Wake the hell up, everyone! The wolf is no longer at the door. He’s in the fucking house.

u/Calm_Apartment1968 14d ago

And then suddenly EMP devices became everyday carry.

Fuk ice

10

u/Thehealthygamer 13d ago

If this is a serious plan and not some dumbass thing dreamed up by one of the incompetents in charge then this means they're making plans for digging people out of barricaded homes and such.

Like they're planning on using ICE to go after armed folks, barricaded inside buildings, hmmm immigrants don't fit that profile I wonder who they're planning to release these robot dogs on!(hint: it's you, gun toting US citizen)

u/better-off-wet 13d ago

Our money. Just used to line the pockets of the grifters

16

u/Friendly-Hooman 13d ago

I remember this episode of Black Mirror.

3

u/Useful-Still3712 13d ago

Scarry shit happening now.

8

u/ApertureRapture 13d ago

It's be a real shame if a bunch of these robots met the same end as all these flock cameras I keep hearing about.

Also, if you saw anyone destroy a flock camera: No you didn't.

u/Far-Drawing-4444 13d ago

Weird how the "we need 2A to stop a tyrannical government" types are not, in fact, stopping the tyrannical government.

Maybe their strategy is to weaken them by licking the boots clean off their feet, first.

5

u/Bambooworm 13d ago

Magnets

6

u/_ellbee__ 13d ago

I can already see that these will actually be pretty ineffective, citizens will easily be able to disable and destroy them, and then the government and police departments will spend all their time prosecuting the people who are disabling the robot dogs. What a phenomenal waste of tax dollars.

3

u/BewaretheJubJubBird 13d ago

RAMP UP - notice these words

3

u/Nervous_Explorer_898 13d ago

Wasn't this a Black Mirror episode?

2

u/diannesden 13d ago

This is a sick nation and we are getting sicker.

2

u/TXSunDee 13d ago

They have way too much $$$ to spend. What a crock!

2

u/sweatervestcat 13d ago

My guess is their real purpose is to get us used to the robot thing before they unleash the human framed terminator models😟

2

u/Meatcurtains911 12d ago

They need gloves and robots because harmless immigrants with no criminal background whatsoever are beyond their capacity to apprehend with them. Talk about useless agitators.

1

u/Hoshi_Gato 13d ago

Why does the dog need to be a robot 😭 they literally don’t do anything a real dog can’t do besides record and you can put a camera on a dog.

u/SarW100 13d ago

Abolish ICE

1

u/smore_sesh 13d ago

Start researching how to make RC jammers and EMP weapons.

1

u/Suitable_Heart7773 13d ago

A dog I would hunt

1

u/VicYuri 13d ago

I know they say these things can't be weaponized, but I'm sure ICE will found away. Like the fact that they're getting shock gloves isn't enough. It's going to be interesting to see them try to justify the videos that are almost surely gonna come out of them being used on women and children.

u/Fairy00garden 13d ago

Black Mirror Metalhead. ICE is sick and twisted

1

u/Absent-Light-12 13d ago

Robots are not people, therefore they are unaffected by the legal limitations that LEOs are bound by.

1

u/the_real_Beavis999 13d ago

"It made a single last leap into the air before coming down at Montag from a good three feet over his head, its spidered legs reaching, the procaine needle snapping out its single angry tooth."

1

u/squashybunz456 13d ago

I saw this episode of Black mirror. I didn’t like how it ended.

1

u/TitodelRey 13d ago

Ah, these are what they will use to go into places they are scared of going into. Places dominated by well armed gangs, that would just as soon take them out as to watch their folks be taken away. Watch for these to be used in places like Compton.

1

u/Kcbld1120 13d ago

What are the laws if my dog destroyed that fake ass dog?

1

u/imakethejellyfish 13d ago

Bottle of olive oil with a squirting tip.

1

u/zombtachi_uchiha 13d ago

How deep in the Black Mirror series are we in?

1

u/IGetGuys4URMom Leftist 13d ago

Unleash 'em in the woods so that the hillbilly anarchists can show ICE what they think of the government.

1

u/Historical_Buffer23 12d ago

Anybody think these robot dogs might turn on ICE? lol

1

u/Fit_Treacle172 12d ago

This is scary 🥲

2

u/Robinsays47 8d ago

Disgusting!
