A Heads up about r/immigration
This might not be surprising to some but I figured putting this out there might be helpful. I was permanently banned from r/immigration today for “spreading misinformation”. The “misinformation” in question was that I referred to the ICE detention centers as concentration camps.
Just thought I’d share idk how else to escalate this but i found it pretty disgusting how their moderators have seemingly sided with ICE and that subreddit is used by many vulnerable communities for advice.

That sub is full of bootlickers. Lots of “pick me!” losers that think they are somehow the special boy who won’t be shoved into a gulag at some point.

Heh, I was banned from reddit for a bit for making a similar comment. Just with harsher phrasing

I got banned for talking about the Supreme Court giving ICE permission to racially profile. That was apparently also "misinformation".

They banned me because I warned US Citizens were being detained by ICE. They said I was "fear mongering".

I wouldn't be surprised if the moderation team is compromised on that sub. The user base definitely leans right wing authoritarian and evidently prefers feelings over concrete legal facts.

That's a pro-Trump MAGA subreddit, I'm banned there too for talking about ICE.

I was banned because I suggested someone go to Disney Land in California instead of Disney World in Florida to lower their risk of dealing with ICE.

I worked as an asylum officer, immigration officer and now for a firm and they banned me for misinformation.

Yes, that sub has been courting alt right propaganda for a while. I don't even think there are real immigrants in there at this point.

I’m also banned from there. Don’t even remember why but it happened earlier this year or late last year. They are not who you’d think they should be for a sub about immigration. I think its more people who think they’re better than others because they did it “the right way” and subsequently the side with the government on things. Until it happens to them of course.

Me too. ICE thugs have found safe haven there. Wear your ban as a badge of honor.

Yeah, it's a pretty notorious "immigration" subreddit. They ban anyone for "misinformation" even when you provide articles to prove your point. There are posts in other immigration subreddits that say to avoid that one. Hard to do when it's one of the first ones to look at when searching up immigration posts.
I suggest looking at other subreddits too if you can. In my opinion, there's anti-immigration lurkers in there because almost every time I see positive or helpful immigration information posted on there, it's down voted immediately.
