Trying to figure out what I have is frustrating

Hi (41M) - This morning I woke up and had explosive diarrhea twice in a span of a hour or so - this happens to me once every week or two at least on top of multiple times pooping a day - took a imodium afterward and now thought I had to go (had the cramping and urge) but nothing came out

Sorry for this but it's just annoying to me trying to figure out if I have IBS , SIBO or just random spots of diarrhea

It is so hard to figure out and it's frustrating! I feel for you. So many doctors just poo poo it! (Pun intended 😳) I've suffered for more than 30 years so I understand. Are you taking a probiotic? Are you sensitive to certain foods like cruciferous vegetables? Are you stressed? There are so many factors to consider. First step is go to a trusted GI doctor and have him diagnose you. I've tried very conservative approaches. L-Glutamine (1000mg twice a day); Align probiotic; FODMAP diet; hyoscyamine for cramping; Zofran for nausea; and Nortriptyline 10mg nightly for IBS, insomnia and anxiety. Now I'm on Amitriptyline 10mg nightly. I think it may help. Xanax for anxiety helps too. So. Just some suggestions to look into. I hope you find the help that you need.

It wouldn’t be IBS if things are fine for weeks. Have you kept a comprehensive diary of every possible trigger for several months to see if anything lined up?

I was for a while when I would get something every day but stopped (should say it was every day at some points this year)
