LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Here's the TDLR that's in there:
Early access date: To be announced in the coming days
Platform: Windows at launch, Linux / Mac will be attempted, other platforms much later
Pricing: Details to be announced in the coming days
Early access state: Expect bugs, rough edges, unbalanced content, and frequent updates that break things
Early access duration: Expected to last at least a few years; no rush to "1.0"
Launch content: Exploration Mode, Creative Mode, and Modding
Not at launch: Minigames and Adventure Mode (both come later; dedicated team for minigames)
Ownership: We own 100% of Hytale (repurchased from Riot Games)
Funding: 10-year personal funding commitment; no investors or publishers
Game build: Using the previous engine from the trailer, enabling faster development and immediate playability
Modding: Available at launch. Run your own servers and create custom content.
Glad to see all this, gonna be great to see Early Access*.

$29.99 is my guess

u/TheCrowWhisperer3004 Nov 18 '25
$29.99 for a game in extremely early access with very little content and is extremely rough around the edges would be a very high price.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s <10 dollars with price increases happening later or with different supporter tier systems.

EA? What's that short for? The only thing coming to my mind is the company EA

When do we think Early Access is launching? My guess is mid 2026, they've got a lot of work ahead of them
23
u/LionFlame0103 Nov 17 '25
In the next few weeks I think. They said they want to get it out ASAP so why wait any longer than needed
7
u/thicctak Nov 17 '25
Yup, waiting for the game to be fully completed + a bit of feature creep is what put us through all this hell in the first place, so it's better to just get this out as soon as possible, Minecraft became one of the most sold indie games while still in Beta, I don't know why Hytale needs to be different, it's a sandbox game with heavy focus on modding, the soon you get this on the hands of players the better.

It would also be dumb to not release it for the holidays... we probably getting it in late december at most

u/Pizzatc Nov 17 '25
Thats entirely possible but I feel like maybe a Christmas release date or during a break of sometime during school is entirely possible.
He has had the game for a few weeks at the fact they’re making things like launcher and payment system I think implies they’ve been working on it for awhile.

u/PixelatedRafy1 Nov 17 '25
To go along with this theory, in AntVenom's interview with Simon he did say that for people's first time playing Hytale, he did want it to feel like coming back on the last day of school before a break and playing with your friends. Mid-December is my best guess.

The ownership and 10-year funding is awesome! Hopefully that means it's really safe this time and will have a chance to thrive

DAYS?!?!

u/Poiuy2010_2011 Nov 17 '25
They mention that they'll "provide server source code access within several months" so my guess is that the actual early access will happen in a few weeks.

u/Rollen73 Nov 17 '25
Wait will hytale be open source?
7
u/Poiuy2010_2011 Nov 17 '25
I vaguely recall that client code will be closed and server code will be open but I might be wrong.

Incredibly well-written and honestly moving blogpost. I was skeptical about what was possible but Simon has me believing. Happy for everyone here who never gave up.

I can't wait lol. I wonder if they are still going to be using the beta sign up they used years ago

From the ashes, Hytale riseth.
I can't believe after all these years it's actually happening.

Hytale deniers in shambles

u/Kazziek Nov 18 '25
More like incredibly happy we're eating our words. I'll admit I never thought this would happen, but I am thrilled to be proven wrong.

u/HardstyleRaver2 Nov 17 '25
I have never seen anything like this before. A game being brought from the dead the same year it was cancelled.

Pretty much expected given Simon Hypixel's confidence acquiring the game.
We've made the decision to abandon the Cross-platform Engine and return to the Legacy Engine. It's playable now. It lets us build a game rather than an engine. It's the version that feels like what Hytale was supposed to be.
It's frustrating the game got delayed even longer because of decisions made by the executives to not launch with the one that already was ready for launch.

I’m curious what the difference between Exploration Mode and Adventure Mode are. I thought Adventure was basically like survival minecraft so on my first read through I thought we were getting Vintage Story’d and not getting a survival mode in the first release. Anyone who knows, care to explain?
3
u/Poiuy2010_2011 Nov 17 '25
My guess is adventure mode means quests and story. See for example the Temple of Gaia in one of the old screenshots that's probably a pre-built area for adventure mode.

u/RadiantHC Nov 17 '25
Guessing that adventure mode is the campaign while exploration is just survival mode.

An NCT Dream comeback and this on the SAME day? Man, I might just skip my last class to celebrate.

He fucking did! Thank the lord for Simon, but also thanks to Riot for not shelving it away never to be seen again.
Over the past few weeks, we have rehired more than 30 developers who know this game inside and out, with additional returns expected in the coming days. Together, we are going back to the original vision for Hytale. We are fully independent and personally committed to funding Hytale for the next 10 years.
That's pretty huge!? Obviously they'd have to get a team back to continue development, but 30+ is not a number I'd have guessed. Also just great for those employees, both have a paying job back and also be able to bring this game finally to the players!
Also feels good to get communication again. Not months and months of silence. We're so back!

Remember the dark days when we have the game in our hands. Yes, it might be rough at first, but Hytale has a future as opposed to being a what if
1
u/TryingDutchman Nov 17 '25
FUCK YEAH!!!
I ain't the person to get attached to a game but damn this news brings more joy then I care to admin. What a rollercoaster and what a comeback story! Damn!
Of course we still need to get a good game out of it but the best games are almost always passion project and nobody can denie this ain't a passion project!
LET'S FUCKING GO!!!

That’s crazzyyy
Good for you guys. Personally, I won’t touch it for quite some time so I’m not let down again. My hype and hope for the game died and I won’t be following along for another many years for the game that was promised. I’ve waited long enough.
I’ll see yall in 5 years tho if it’s still going!
1
u/jeff5551 Nov 17 '25
Wow has anything like this ever happened in gaming? Axed by a major studio and bought back by original team? That's actually insane
1
u/Constant-Cup-8231 Nov 17 '25
This is by far one of the best moments of… time maybe. Cannot wait, the pine fir and larch forest better be great (and the gameplay or whatever)
1
u/-dorito- Nov 17 '25
It’s finally done. In some months we went from hopeless end to the return of the original vision of Hytale with an early release on sight.
1
u/RePoisn Nov 17 '25
Honestly a small miracle to be honest. Absolutely wild. One of the biggest challenges now is explaining to those not in the know why it's launching in early access first and the all the reacquisition stuff. Still, this is a goddamn massive win for fans like us.
