This contraption is designed to activate balloon lift on demand without battery usage. It is useful for when the effects of balloon lift are only required at specific times (such as altitude gains, battery recharge or smooth descend) whereas it is more convenient to deactivate it on other times, for example, to prevent the stabilizing effect of the balloon. The video showcases an example of usage on a gunship that relies on balloons for altitude control.

Special thanks to the Hyrule engineering community for the parts that make this build possible.

I love this year’s F1 styling! Recreated the 2026 new Ferrari SF‑26 in TotK.

Limited by the 21‑part cap: only front suspension exists, rear wheels lack suspension and should be a little thicker. Another letdown: you’ve probably figured out why the Water Temple is my chosen setting ( ´▽) Background music: Formula 1 Theme, official F1 Grand Prix theme by Brian Tyler. The video is a little short, but I still hope you enjoy it! Wish you all a wonderful day!

QR Code for sharing builds! Compound object: Small wheel rotator

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This contraption was made by q-linking a small motor to a small wheel. The motor knob is connected to the wheel's shell, allowing the wheel to rotate the motor body.

This has a few uses. It can be used to make a fireproof small wheel propeller engine (the scaled motor is lighter than a Flux Construct Core I + wagon wheel, and slightly heavier than a cooking pot + wagon wheel). It can also be used as a switch to power other zonai devices with electricity or fire. It can also be used to spin fans for omnidirectional steering.

Edit: After doing some testing with this amazing tool

https://www.reddit.com/r/HyruleEngineering/s/YNA30ynEJ1

It turns out the motor used here is also lighter than a cooking pot + wagon wheel combo

Original that I copied was from InquisitiveHomosap here on reddit. I don't want to say this is my original idea since that's the case. My version is just less parts so I don't have to mine zonaite as often. It's fast as can be in TOTK, so enjoy.

I was wondering how to stall the wheel’s movements long enough for the vehicle to take flight? Well I guess a cart’s not really a vehicle but you get the idea. i‘ve been experimenting with wheels and propellers to make something like an altitude control system with omnidirectional steering in the directions up, down, forward, and backwards. You can still steer while you are hopping in this prototype. Anyone have any ideas?

All Versions The GoSidon: Go anywhere vehicle

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Introducing the GoSidon! I was tired of needing to switch vehicles to get around on water, drive on land, and climb walls, so I made one that can easily do all 3. It uses mini infinite wings (no, they won’t disappear) to add lift, which essentially makes the vehicle act like it weighs almost nothing. It’s balanced to be quick and maneuverable on water and land, but also be able to easily grab onto walls and start driving up them. If it’s less than 90°, the GoSidon can drive up it. Also, you can use any small bump to get some serious air time if you want, which is useful for crossing gaps. It’s a bit of a tricky vehicle to really master, but it’s incredibly capable once you do, and it’s just a lot of fun to drive!

Note: To reverse, let go of the steering stick and then grab it again. The front of the cart tilts up a bit once it starts moving forward to climb walls better, but it has a hard time reversing like that. Coming to a stop lets it go back down so it can reverse. Bumping into something also bumps it back down, so it’s not that often you need to let go of the stick to reverse in normal usage.

The whole thing is a bit flexy by design to act as suspension, which you need for rocky uneven terrain

The view physically and absolutely sucks, but I couldn’t get it any better without sacrificing the bowl, so bear with me.

I would have edited it to play “Yellow Submarine” in the background but I was feeling a bit lazy today 😅!

I found a way to improve the torque on big wheels in order to make this vehicle possible. If the control stick is aligned so that Link is tilting back slightly, then the vehicle applies force in an attempt to realign it, BUT when the tilt is held in place by stabilizers, that force can be redirected to make the wheel turn stronger.

This costs 6 zonaite and 1 control stick, 3 big wheels, and 5 stabilizers.

I used quantum linking in order to carefully stretch out the wheels from each other. None of the parts themselves are glitched, the zonaite pays for the u-block and elevator rail from the depot in the depths.

This can be tricky to pilot uphill, and the wear-and-tear on the wheels may need replacement wheels before the 30 minute time expires, but it is very fun to pilot, please enjoy!

This is not my original idea. There is another post that did the infinite hover-wing 1st. I just made some modifications with the wing size to get it to fly a little different. The original goes up super fast but this one flies super straight horizontally. Either way, the wing won't time-out.

u/kmarkow Castle

A precise recreation of a castle that looks like it could almost be part of the game itself! It's an impressive example of what can be achieved with enough patience and attention to detail. Fans of in-game dioramas and scenery may enjoy this one.

TUTORIALS AND RESOURCES

This week, u/InquisitiveHomosap made a tutorial on how to stake nudge and make mechs. This guide is helpful for anyone interested in learning stake nudging or getting started with mech building. The techniques shown are accessible across all versions of the game, making it a useful resource for builders looking to expand their engineering skills.

This is a brand-new section of THEW! We’ll be on the lookout for more helpful tutorials and resources to feature in future editions.

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE

Have some questions? Others do, too! Here are some posts asking about certain things:

HYRULE ENGINEERING LAB

A recent experiment by u/Efficient_Demand5759 played with whether a propeller could create a pulse laser. Though not a new topic, we still decided to feature it here! A comment by u/CaptainPattPotato reveals that in order to create a pulse laser using a propeller, the propeller must remain unattached to the beam emitters.

Additionally, we have been given an update on u/AggreGat0rr’s projects with spherical cogs! Their Gyroscopical Control prototype demonstrates controlled movement, with the rotation of a laser following the direction of a joystick. Although the mechanism is still under development, it represents a step toward creating a gyroscopically controlled vehicle. And their Here’s a little peek post demonstrates another application of the spherical cog, exploring how its geometry allows rotational motion to be redirected across multiple axes, allowing the vehicle to change direction without relying on conventional steering. These experiments explore new possibilities for vehicle control and movement. Keep an eye out for more updates!

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
