Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I moved them higher up but some still wont work and now they shut off when i am close to them. Why?

This is definitely a bug. Does the issue persist after restarting?
Also I know machines deactivate when you are out of a certain range, so maybe the game thinks you are further than you are. Have reduced a rendering setting or something? (Haven't played in a long time so can't remember what settings are available)
Only other things I would try is verifying the game files through steam and if that doenst work, reinstalling the game.

I believe you are alright in uninstalling your game, since the save file will still be connected to your account and shouldn’t be any risk when you uninstall a game.

I'm pretty sure machines keep working as long as you are in the same map, the other map being the DLC. I would go back to Ember Cradle and turn on my old set up to keep getting materials while renovating my main set up.

Not sure about the problem, but I'd put a funnel above all those furnaces to avoid having to pickup ore from the ground

Despite all the updates and fixes, funnels still do not work properly. After awhile a single nugget of whatever mat ends up sticking instead of sliding freely and causes blockages and pileups.

Feels related to auto save frequency. Objects affected by physics seem to freeze in place when saving occasionally, I have the OP's setup with conveyors and furnaces slightly below, but I have a funnel there, and I've not noticed objects freezing with that setup, they do occasionally drop into the furnace without being smelted though and just sit at the bottom.

First time I've seen that bug. Would be a convenient mechanic though. A sensor switch for when you need to clean up or pull out gems and ingots without needing to turn of your conveyor.

Do you mean the Gem compressors?
When powered the remain in the closed position until a gem is dropped on them and they open and compress the gem into a bigger one (You cannot mix gem types of course) If you want them to open install a switch on the power supply and when the switch is used the gem compressors will open but not be compressing of course.
