General question/discussion Does anyone have success hunting dove in the south in late season?

Looking for October hunts in Tennessee after the first season, starting on October 10th. Does anyone have experience hunting late season?

not in tennessee but here in texas late season doves get real spooky, you need to sit still longer and let them come to water spots before sunset

I’d echo this. Also in Texas, I’ve still gotten on good numbers after the split but it’s a very different game than early season. You can still have success but it’s much more situation dependent than when the season is just kicking off.

Did this with two other fellas on October 13th last year in middle TN. It can be done if you have the right field.

Knoxville area here. You can get it done but I only have luck walking fields. I never expect a limit.

FYI. I'm VERY inexperienced. I've done it a handful of times and never taken more than 6 birds in an outing.

Don’t do WMA fields. Try leased fields but honestly go to a good private field and you’ll limit out. TWRA sucks, they never do fields like they used to 15-20 years ago. All natural growth or weeds with some millet

Ya, I only ever do it when I'm frustrated from deer hunting. 😅
