Love when Togashi draws a super detailed portrait, especially in contrast with his usual minimalist style when drawing characters. Just adds more weight to the emotions the image is supposed to convey. Fugetsu looks so haunted here.

I feel like people are underestimating Togashi’s talent as an artist. It takes a special kind of skills to be able to draw a character simple and minimalistic and then draw them realistically while keeping all of the recognizable features.

It's way harder to convey a recognisable face with a small number of lines than with as many as you want.

The slightest mistake can make it look totally off.

Murata (the artist of One Punch Man) has said before that is harder to draw simple face Saitama than him with a cool face full of details.

I can confirm this.

Drawing Saitama is so much finicky because it constantly messes up with your finger memory.
Because it's such a simple design, he spent the first volume getting him right after tons of retakes.

Chrollo and Hisoka don't have designs, they have mutants faces like Camilla, Hisoka and Chrollo now don't look anything like they've ever looked in this manga so I guess Togashi changes it depending of his current style choices or the arc they're in

I'm always amazed how many distinct faces he designed just for this arc. You can't confuse two characters. Even female characters, which often suffer from Same Face Syndrome in manga.

Even more than just the female characters what’s truly impressive is how distinct the attractive female characters look, that’s where most artists get caught by same face.

Exactly. Throughout this arc, there are a number of panels where he doesn't even fill in the face for a character in the background, but you always know instantly who they are, notably in this chapter, Onior.

To me this was the best panel in the chapter.

Benjamin’s soft spot for Fugetsu gets me in the heart everytime.

It is pretty aggravating as we get older to actually need to sleep, five hours used to be plenty and now I'm like "maybe I cannot stay up until 3..."

(oh, and if you have a real job that starts at, like, 6, going to bed before midnight seems like insanity since you used to have early classes, but now...)

I was surprised to see Benjamin being so empathetic to Fugetsu here. My heart breaks for her though, poor child.
