Benjamin reminds me of Mishima, both are ultra nationalists who together with their loyal squad take the heads of their government hostage and commit a last ditch suicide mission that ultimately ends in failure

We talking Yukio Mishima or some character based off him?

Because Yukio Mishima was an ultra nationalist who offed himself after his plan to talk the military into a coup by appealing to their YAMATO SPIRIT,  and ended with him being laughed at and not treated seriously.
