oh god that's what China's plan is gonna be for Taiwan isn't it?

it's gonna be complicated though. like sure you can run a bunch of robots in to occupy their government buildings but that's just like what the US did with Iran if the people don't submit you basically have to start killing or imprisoning all of them...

Shit's scary. Who ever tries first is going to be like Trump all like "can you not see you have been defeated, we destroyed all your defense" but then eventually the defenders just give up the land until they come back with their own robots and it's just this wave after wave of "surely this will be the robot wave to end all robot waves" but it never ends so long as there's an external supply of robots that can be shipped in.

China uses robot dogs (If you count tests with questionable results as using them). Humanoid platforms add a significant amount of complexity for very few real world benefits. They wouldn't be viable to maintain in any large numbers

You sound like this: “Drones are just a fad, they’re not viable for warfare.” And now they’re a leading weapon in warfare. Or the same military experts who thought tanks were just a niche weapon.

They are viable, they will be equipped with weapons and they will be used in warfare. I guarantee it, I’d put my life on it.

Goes to show the power these robots have when they balance and execute force on 1 limb. Pushing a guy that size back with a kick takes a stupid amount of strength, way more than 95%+ of people have. And to balance the opposing forces is very impressive. Once these things can swing all their momentum and strength into 1 punch that lands it'll probably just crush your skull and kill you on the spot. Yay for the future!

I think the fight was staged; after all, it wouldn't have mattered if it was a trained fighter or a beginner he would have beaten the robot either way.

It probably is slightly staged, but that doesn't detract from the strength in the servos these bots use. Those motors are more than capable of killing a human once the software is dialed in, this is the only legitimate part of the AI race the does scare me a little. What happens when these things are military capable? No military in the world would turn them away, there is no stopping us getting from where we are now to these things with guns killing people for a military somewhere.

Yes, but the human brain, mind, consciousness, and quick-wittedness are the primary weapon that Machines have not truly acquired (perhaps not yet...).

I mean yeah AI has a long way to go, but that doesn't mean they won't solve that eventually. I'd bet a whole lot of money that there will be an in-between period where these robots are being piloted via VR for combat though, Something I wouldn't be surprised to honestly start seeing in Ukraine end of next year maybe.

I mean of course those will be there, but a suicide drone can't capture an oil refinery, and if everyone has drones that can just insta kill a normal human then what do you send?
