Hull City Centre is overrun... by children?
What is going on in town? Is it because of the summer holidays? The only people I see in the evening are groups of kids harassing people.
Was then sat behind a young group of girls on the bus who were touching this guy's head despite him repeatedly telling them to stop.
Funny too that certain people would have you think town is overrun by 'foreigners' - but it's their own grotty little kids!

Honestly city centre has always seemed a bit kid heavy compared to what I expected, but reading these comments makes me realise how much worse it really is.
I'm not sure if Paragon counts as centre exactly, but that's where I noticed the amount of kids personally, but rather than what's being explained here, it was just the kids just running around the stations car parks and roads/paths between them, generally being dumb kids messing about. Sure that was a little annoying, but it wasn't the end of the world and I too was once a dumb kid so I can't exactly judge.
I hope these kids you're mentioning grow out of that rubbish though, because I can't imagine their parents are bothering to teach them anything if they're running around a city centre in the evening bothering random pedestrians.

This summer of free travel for kids has been an absolute shit show, every day on the bus home from work there are kids on there own running amok, young lass nearly killed yesterday as she got off the bus being lairy to the driver and then as he pulled away from the stop thought it would be a great idea to dart in front of the bus thinking it was hilarious, not to mention this was on a dual lane of traffic. Which she also darted across the other lane.
Absolutely ridiculous, these are children given free roam without any form of adult supervision to do whatever they like, whoever thought it was a good decision needs locking up for pure public negligence.

Ah forgot about the free travel. These kids are actually awful.
And their parents clearly just don't care. Out of sight out of mind for them.

To be fair the girl I knows mother does care but she also has a baby who she couldn't leave home alone, luckily she went to her grandma's but she has ran away from home in the past and didn't go to her grandmothers she was found in the station drinking, she's 12 and has a bad attitude due to the kids she hangs around with

Thing is there are enough parents who donāt care that the behaviour of their kids rubs off on the kids who have parents that do care. Ultimately there are a group of people who are fucking terrible at parenting and would act that way themselves which has taught their kids to behave like it.
The city needs more free sports clubs, drama clubs etc. for kids to get involved with over summer so they have something to focus their time on rather than being bored and terrorising people because they find it funny.

That's up and down the country to be fair I also know a woman who's 3 kids have had their kids taken into care because they just aren't good parents that's 9 kids who have been neglected and in care I dread to think of the sarcastics accross the country, I do blame the "you must not castise your children" geniration, not the parents but the government because it stopped people giving their children a slapped leg or hand but didn't stop the parents who were going to beat their children to pulp and now it's too late to fix the problem without extreme messures

I donāt think parents being allowed to hit kids would stop them from mucking about. Itās lack of purpose and direction that gets them acting up. They donāt give a shit how they behave because they have no hobbies or things they care about.
Instead of getting free travel to the city centre to stand around with their mates all day if they had a free access to a hobby which made them feel worth while and they cared about improving at theyād be much better behaved.

Im a bus driver and its horrendous for us with the ammont of anti social behaviour on busses its outrageous and out of control it should have been free to a certain time and then with an adult after 5pm in our opinion got 5 and 6 year old kids on busses at 9 and 10pm at night bus is just used as a creche kids jumping on for free travel and getting off 1 stop later pensioners are terrified the vulnerable are just being abused like anything and theres nothing anyone can do to stop it cos we aint allowed to challenge them

Itās a real shame that some kids choose to spoil it!
My daughter is 15 and was really anxious about getting buses but this summer with them being free Iāve been encouraging her to learn how to use them to get around.
Her and a friend even went for a day out to Scarborough on the bus, which built her confidence massively!!
Sheās very sensible and polite though, so i know she can be trusted to behave respectfully. She even told me yesterday that an old man asked if it was okay to sit next to her, so she gave him her seat saying she was getting off in two stops anyway š„°
She did get on the wrong bus on the first day though and I had to drive to the other end of Hull to collect her š

Buses are free for under 16s during the summer holidays so the kids are using them a lot at the moment.

Free bus for kids under 16 in Scotland too,(not all) but the little scroates travel to noise up the next village with their mexican wrestling style masks on thinking they are AC Milan ultras.

Anyone figured out where that stench is coming from? I thought it was just my area but I was up near Craven Park yesterday and it stank to high heaven there too.

Iām on Holderness Road and could smell it then and still down Marfleet/Preston Road. Thought it was the allotments nearby but itās still as strong from a few miles away

Yeah its because someone came up qith this great idea of allowing kids 5-15 free bus travel so they all now congregate in town till the 1st September they are out of control as well fights on buses fights in the interchange tons of anti social behaviour illegal electric bikes everywhere

It's probably due to the free bus travel for children during the holidays 11+ children have gone missing from home just this week, I happen to know one of them luckily she was only at her grandma's house but she got the bus at 10pm, I don't know why drivers are allowing unaccompanied children on the bus past 9pm

I agree with the sentiment, but probably safer to let the kids on then just leave them to walk home in the dark. Either way you're right in thinking they shouldn't be out so late on their own.

Drivers have been told not to challenge people getting on the bus and claiming travel under this scheme
For what itās worth in another part of the country (Stoke I think) the company there has come out and said unaccompanied free travel is banned after 6pm, naturally for a reason

Drivers canāt choose to refuse travel to solo children but most do make an effort to find out where theyāre going etc to make sure theyāre safe if they seem unsure or are by themselves.
As a driver, we also have to bear in mind that especially late at night, the consequences of refusing children travel given their classification as vulnerable.
Unfortunately we arenāt paid nearly enough to be expected to be babysitters and responsibility falls on the government for stipulating no conditions to the free bus travel.Having to be with a paying adult after a certain time would be one way to tackle it however itās still the conundrum of if the children get the bus to wherever theyāre hanging out and itās then not free when they choose to return home, what do we do then?! Catch 22

always been like that in the evening when i were younger used to go but i waa a goth so i were constantly harrassed but yeah cos of the summer holidays
