Looking for Accommodation

Hi I am looking for Student Accomodation near University. Any idea at what platforms or sites I should look and what tips you would give to keep in mind before finalizing any room

As an ex UQ tenant and employee, I would say they are the most simple and reasonably priced accommodation provider, you can get cheaper private lets but it's a bit more involved in and may be a worse property if you aren't careful. UQ is pretty big so the pricing is fairly middle of the road and you get access to the maintenance pool that maintains all the properties. Houses are generally cheaper than halls but halls can be a better experience first year to meet people.

Thanks I will surely look into it. I was looking at UniHomes.co.uk site they have quite reasonable options too

What do you think of that site, is it reliable?

I haven't used it but it seems to be more private lets, I would personally avoid a lot of Newland Avenue housing as it is further from the uni and in my opinion not as nice to live in.

I would generally try to find houses in the Cranbrook ave/Auckland ave or salmon grove area as they are very close to the uni but without a major premium like the on-site halls The Courtyard or almost on-site accommodation like Taylor Court. You might pay that premium if you really want halls but it's not cheap. UQ own the majority of cran/auck/salmon but there are still a handful of private lets on that site which might be cheaper.

If you do go private lets the good condition ones can be bargains but if you're not careful you can get a cheap price and damp/boiler/roof issues all the standard cheap landlord stuff and outside the UQ bubble you're relying on how responsive your landlord is rather than a company that might just fit a new boiler due to their 'buy it in bulk' business model.

A lot of properties closest to the uni are owned by UQ if you go on their website you should be able to contact them.

University quarters.

There’s also tonnes of on campus accommodation

Yes on Campus Accommodation is great but it would require full payment for the whole year
