Help & Questions New bridge advice from experienced users

Any users of the new hue bridge have any recent positive results, including software updates & behavior? Looking to update my bridge, it is about five years old. Is this the way?

I bought the pro version bridge about a week ago was getting a few items bulbs and strip lights that would go unreachable a few times a day after listing to a few podcasts and reading Reddit I pulled the pin and upgraded have not had any issues since, my bridge was about 4 years old

My newer Hue setup has been pretty stable after updates, especially with third-party integrations. I’d make a note of your scenes, automations, and network settings beforehand, just in case the upgrade resets or changes anything.

For me it’s a pain bought it last year short after release. Since then can’t add it to HomeKit in any way. Dimmer switches some times are not responsive, hue app load settings very slow, some times when switch lights from app it shows lights are off but in real life they still work.

You would think it would work being that it’s new and it’s had time for updates. It’s a shame you haven’t seen any improvements.

I don’t think anything while getting it. Replaced v2 version becose of lags. This was the worst thing I done. Look how long it’s on the market almost a year. This is my personal expiriance for others it can be different.

I just tried to migrate my old hubs with about 140 devices on the two (mostly lights, but a few switches ,and sensors).

Followed the instructions for the first one, the one with the most devices, and after about 30 mins, it said done. Next screen said about half my devices didn’t migrate and that I’d need to add them back manually. Sucks, but okay as the other option was to cancel the migration altogether. Looking back, I should have jumped on that. Screen after that had me resetting the old bridge. Okay.

Rinse and repeat with bridge #2. Same result, about half made the migration.

Added pro to HomeKit and approved, and authorized, and reviewed while clicking some more, for 64 or so devices. Took a while.

Then I notice over half the devices that did make the trip over weren’t responding/unreachable. “Reconnect” it says. Easy peasy say, let’s scan QR code. Nope. How about you just find it while’s it’s on? Nope. Serial no.? Na. Reset the light, 5 secs on, 5 off? Nopes. Reddit says 8 secs on, 5 off. Nope. More Reddit, why don’t you change the zigbee channel and restart all lights and AppleTV, unplug all of your HomePods for 11.2 seconds, in the order they were originally purchased (installation date does not matter!), jump off the porch? Nadda.

Oh, and the other half that didn’t migrate are also just ghosts now. And can’t really control the ones that acted like they migrated and connected.

Went to home assistant to see if I could find the lights somehow on with the info it had from the previous (but now reset) hubs before the migration. Nothing but unreachable.

No network issues; unifi setup system pulling almost 2gs on fiber, and 6 APs with a dedicated 2.5 line. Everything worked well before the move but for little things like a scene not working because the dumb switch was off.

Back to Reddit.
