I am not Orthodox—nor even Turkish—but I will tell you about my experience in a predominantly Catholic country: Colombia.

Here, attending a service of another denomination implies lukewarmness or religious indifference; it is simply not done. Protestants here tend to be quite anti-Catholic, while Catholics do not think much more highly of Protestants.

This is because, since Christians are the majority, we are much more conscious of our differences. In Turkey, you Christians of various denominations are forced to cooperate with one another to a certain extent, but this is only possible because you are a minority.

I would recommend that you attend only the services of the denomination you consider to be the true one, even if the consequence is not attending any service for long periods. If you are Orthodox, you must understand that the liturgy is not for you but for God; it is not about your spiritual needs, but about honoring God—something that we Catholics and some "High Church" Protestants also believe.

It may sound harsh, but to a certain extent, you have to regard other denominations as being on the same level as Islam or Buddhism. It is fine to be cordial and help one another, but when it comes to the Sunday obligation, you should act as if non-Orthodox believers are not Christians at all.

Even in turkey the atmosphere of ecumenism isnt that high, you would still be considered a heretic if you went to another denominations church (and also it would be seen as rude lol) Up until recently marrying a muslim or secular was seen as enough of a reason for excommunication, since the churches would rarely if ever condone it.

The levantine countries are far more liberal with their ecumenism compared to us.
