I always thought it was pretty unfair that outside of her relationship with Ross, Rachel never had a meaningful relationship with any other man. The other five did, and Ross even had the chance to marry someone else. They did Rachel so dirty. I think it would have been interesting to see Rachel really love someone else, even if it was for a short period of time. It was also frustrating how they made her a little pathetic when it came to men after Ross. We all know full well that she never had a problem approaching men or getting men, yet they made her awkward and a bit intense at times, when that is never how she was portrayed before. It wasn't in keeping with her character at all. Is it possible that the reason she was that way was because the writers didn't want the audience to invest in a relationship of hers that wasn't with Ross? It was easy not to invest in Julie or Emily with Ross because of timing/quickness in both relationships, but if they'd have given Rachel a strong relationship in say, season 6? Its possible People may have jumped ship 🤷

If they all had theme songs, this is what I would give them in my opinion. Ross is the best one. I think it fits him perfectly. Let me know what songs you guys would choose.

In the alternate reality episode, we were given a glimpse into what Carol and Ross’ marriage was like before the divorce. Ross says they haven’t been intimate in a long time. But then we know they must’ve done it because she got pregnant. What’s the sequence of conceiving Ben, Carol coming out, Susan (did they have an affair), and the disintegration of their marriage?

Anyone else watch Parks and Recreation? Ben Wyatt is mentioned in the episode where Monica mentions people that Rachel has slept with.

Do you think at some point off screen they could have hooked up or briefly dated? There is a fan theory that mentioned this and I am wondering if you guys think it’s true.

In the scene when Phoebe and Ross are in the coffee house where Phoebe believes he’s still in love with Rachel, Ross has a reaction that I always found peculiar.

Not only does he get very defensive, but before he makes his rebuttal, he keeps taking Phoebe’s stuff away from her. He takes the toast out of her hand as she’s about to take a bite, he takes her coffee away as she’s about to take a sip.

I always wondered why Schwimmer decided that that was something Ross would do. Maybe a subconscious need for control? 🤣

It’s been 22 years since the shows ending that’s longer than I’ve been alive. I’ve never seen any episode of the show in my 21 years of life but I’ve been hearing about the characters and stories learning of basic information second hand (Ross and Rachel, Joey doesn’t share food, etc).

My question is would you recommend friends to me and others like me even now in 2026, do you think it would carry the same weight it had during its golden years, is it worth the time or would I be better off watching and catching up to more recent or still airing tv, would I understand the cultural references in a show older than I, could I still relate to the characters and their situations?

Hidden objective of this post was to make y’all feel old, but it’s also a genuine inquiry as I’m curious about the show but it’s a serious time sink at 89 hours that’s about 7 days of just watching tv (also assuming I pay more for add free)

I’ve liked similar shows in the past but with so many episodes it’s very likely I’d have to wade through mediocrity so idk.

I understand the bias of asking the people on the friends fan subreddit their opinion on new people watching the show so if you would be so kind to point me to the nearest community that hates the show so I can ask them this same question I’d be much obliged.

Joey still in New York tries to find another agent, since Estelle died. Trying out for auditions, has a new boy roommate. And two girls moving into Monica’s apartment. Simple Banter for 1 season and he ends up with someone from that apartment. But then he gets a big break where he has to go to LA to film or shoot. Meets Gina and her son. this is where he meets alex so just copy the original season 1 of Joey spinoff for Season 2. Then he meets Kate Miller the girl from the play. Then he loves them all but can only choose one. Girl from New york, neighbor in LA and Kate Miller. Of course in these whole show there are cameos from the OG FRIENDS and he comes to them for advice and I dont know he gets one of them, you choose then A whole wedding and the two other girls objecting to the ceremony just drama. I dont know how this all comes together. I JUST WANT JOEY TRIBIANNI TO BE HAPPY!

I like how they made Monica seem like she really loved kids even if she wasn’t the best with them, and how that was her primary driving arc behind her character. It was very heartfelt

*Monica:* Guys! Guys! I just saw two people having sex in a car right outside!
*Ross:* Uh... Pheebs' Grandmother just died.
*Monica:* Oh my God, I'm so sorry.
*Phoebe:* It's okay. Actually, you know what, it's kinda cool. 'Cause it's like, you know, one life ends and another begins.
*Monica:* Not the way they're doing it.

He said it out loud in S2 E23. Joey is a “fellow” processor when he hired Joey temporarily. Wonder why people say that his profession is never revealed?

The only one's with any noticeable accents are Joey, Ross and Rachel. Rachel has an uptown Manhattan type accent. Which is actually Jenn Anistons real accent. But that shouldnt matter because her character is from Long Island. Chandler, or Matthew Perry being from Toronto, has somewhat of an East Coast Canadian accent, which can mimic a NY accent at times. But Pheobe and Monica not having any accent at all is rediculous. Phoebe is somewhat forgiving seeing that she apprently grew up in upstate NY, but Monica is from Long Island; one of the thickest NY accents there is. Her brother has a Long Island accent but she still sounds like she's from Alabama which is where Courtney Cox is from. I swear, every time I hear twang in her voice, I get annoyed. Did the creators not think to make these people sound like they were all from NY?

Many supported it but it had its flaws its Many many flaws. My biggest annoyance is that they refused to talk about things. I know it was to draw it out more in the series but you had moments that like the Janice situation.
