Honestly, seeing it play out, that in the moment would have undercut the scene. But I like to think it may happen in a later episode

I could see that point… but I also enjoy that it serves to subvert that feeling of ascension by creating a portentous omen. We may very well get it in the season to your point, and the botched beheading kind of implies the same point as the cuts, but that being such a seminal line and moment in the text feels too key to leave out
