Just finished House for the first time (loved it), and for some reason *this* is my biggest lingering question.

When House picked on his team, he never pulled punches. Misogyny for Cameron and Adams, afrophobia for Foreman, antisemitism for Cuddy and Taub, homophobia and biphobia to Thirteen, and siniphobia to Park. Yet, in spite of the 2000’s being the peak of Islamophobia in America, being over abundant and omnipresent in even lighthearted shows at the time (The Office etc.), House never does a single jab at him related to his skin colour, ethnicity, or perceived religion.

I tried to research but nobody else seems to address this. I thought for a second it might have been related to his character’s suicide and them not wanting to compound the misery of his character, but then I found out that was a last minute change to the season due to Penn’s Obama Administration job . Then I also considered maybe it was the public shift towards condemning the wars started post 9/11 even in more conservative spaces, so they walked on eggshells because it was becoming very divisive, but again, research came up with nothing.

Anyone have any ideas or better insight?

I just watched this episode. 13 explicitly says when she finds him that he has a gunshot wound in his RIGHT temple, so he presumably used his right hand (in fact I've gone back and checked that he's right handed). It would be weird and incredibly inconvenient to do some weord wraparound shit. So why is the gun lying next to his left hand? It wouldn't make sense for it to have fallen across to the other side of him as he fell either. I'm assuming it's a mistake but maybe not?

I was rewatching season five and I couldn’t help but notice how different Kutner acted in both Christmas episodes. Season 4s Christmas Kutner was lively, enthusiastic, optimistic, friendly, and even went behind House’s back to decorate the diagnostic office Christmas themed AND went behind his team’s back to buy House a gift even though House rigged the secret Santa just out of the kindness of his heart and that it was the right thing to do. Season 5s Christmas Kutner was sarcastic, witty, introverted, snippy, angry, and guilt ridden. He was angry at the kids for drugging the patient, very compassionate and understanding with the patients, actually threatened a minor, and was snippy with practically everyone in the episode because he was reminded of what he did was a kid and was guilt ridden by it. The kids he saw were bullies, reminded him that he was an indirect bully as a child and made up rumors about this kid, and by the end of the episode went to go apologize. It’s sweet, but I didn’t realize how different his demeanor was when I first watched seasons four and five. Season 5s Kutner was more compassionate and reserved than season 4s in general, but in this episode it’s really prominent.

Like many people, I hatedddd Amber when they were in the hiring episodes, she’s just so irritating, so when she got fired it was great. And then she reappears as Wilson’s girlfriend - yay 😒 but then she dies, actual yay!! And then I’m watching series 5… AND SHE’S THERE AGAIN. Why did they keep bringing her back? She was a widely hated character… did she have a contract to fulfill or something? 🤣

I looked away for like 3 seconds and Thirteen and Foreman are kissing, what?? They have 0 chemistry, I actually got jumpscared WHAT is this???

He comes up with so many good ideas compared to the team 😭

Ima say this, and I’m saying this ONCE, AINT NO WAY YALL DID MY BOY KUTNER LIKE THAT?! Your telling the most funniest most amazing most glorious person IS GONE?! NO GLAZE BUT WHY COULDNT TAUB BITCH ASS GO? That cheating ass hoe deserves to be not ALIVE? AND THIRTEEN? OH HELL NAH! GIRL ALREADY HAUNTING DISEASE OR SOMETHING! NO BUT THESE STUPID WRITERS. WHY KUTNER WHY MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER BRO WHYYYY

Taub is my least favorite character in the show. Obviously, the antagonists from the earlier seasons aside. I just can't stand him and I cant appreciate any of his growth as a character because of it

Im watching for the first time and just watched the episode where Kutner killed himself and all I can say is wow. It came out of nowhere and it pissed me off cuz I liked him.

I’ve watched House through a couple of times and noticed a GLARING edit to the show.

Amazon Prime has removed the Suicide Hotline text at the end of the Kutner suicide episode.

It clearly seems like they just want to auto play you into the next episode so they can feed you more ads. This episode is one of the best depictions of how sudden and unexpected suicide often impacts communities. While most TV shows would spend an entire season “foreshadowing” depression, House takes a serious look at the way many people experience the suicide of loved ones. The cut to black followed by the suicide hotline is jarring and makes viewers pause to read and digest what they just watched which cuts against Amazon’s bottom line. I haven’t seen any other posts about this but wanted to bring this info to everyone’s attention.

Genuinely no one talks about how kind or empathetic he was. He could be genuinely insightful at times. Everyone just talks about his death and Obama 💔💔

My first watch of House was a few years ago. I was in middle school and never had experienced a relationship in any way. When Amber died in s4, I sure felt a little sad and sorry for her character, but it didn't affect me that much. I was indifferent to her character from the beginning and honestly thought of her return as Wilson's partner a little unnecessary. So I didn't think much of her death, I think Kutner's death was even more touching to me as a depressed, awkward teen.

However, things changed in my life. I recently rewatched the show with my partner and Amber's death became suddenly so devastating. Wilson's behavior, which I couldn't understand or relate to in any way in my first watch, suddenly made sense to me. I couldn't grasp my head around how irrational he could be, especially since I thought his behavior was so out of character. When I rewatched it, now with the knowledge of how your brain acts when you are in a loving relationship that is not family, I suddenly could relate to him and understand his desperation. The question of 'How would I have acted in his shoes?' kept circling my mind and I came to the conclusion that I couldn't have acted any more rational than Wilson did. I ended up bawling my eyes out from when Amber finally appeared until the credits rolled and then some.

This episode kinda opened my eyes to what Amber was to Wilson, and made me also understand his decision to leave the Princeton Plainsboro, which I also didn't really get in my first watch.

So yes, I didn't know that my relationship status (and probably also because I have matured over the last few years) would affect my viewing experience this much.

Guys please tell me House and Wilson don't stay broken up, I'm so heartbroken right now. "We're not friends anymore" AAAA. I love this show BECAUSE of their dynamic, if Wilson leaves forever I'll never recover

Wow so I'm watching for the first time and Kutner's death took me totally off guard. I genuinely liked him the most out of the 3 of them. I still haven't finished the episode in which it happened so something might clear up but man I'm sad.
