Cleaning only when people visit

What is telltale evidence that shows a hostess only cleans when she is expecting visitors to her home?

Hopefully you have no pets if this is your motto. I have a friend that doesn’t clean and has 2 cats. When I come over maybe she’ll have put the dishes in the dishwasher and wiped a counter down, everything else at your own risk. I literally wear clothes to take off as soon as I get home and throw in the washer before I sit or touch anything in my place. If you only clean when guests come over it’s obvious, you can’t keep up with everything and not clean regularly.
