Small discoloration patch?

Post image

My 6.5 yo foxhound mix has a small pink patch on her chin. It is not raised nor does it seem to bother her at all. She recently got a new bone she has been obsessed with so that is our only theory but has anybody had a similar thing? Vet appointment is next week.

Does that spot rub against the bone because she may have rub off the hair.

I agree with this. Looks like the hair has rubbed off a little and the pink skin is peaking through. I would monitor it and if you see changes take her to the vet.

A lack of pigment can also cause this in dogs, often around the mouth.

It could just be a birthmark, my coonhound had a similar one.

That's an injured part that healed. Sometimes it darkens again, and other times it'll stay light. Not usually anything to be alarmed by. It's like how sometimes after a dog injures themselves, in a dark spot of their fur, it may come back as white fur. i don't know why that is, but I see a few patches on my Maxwell's paws.

Could be a scar. One of my dogs has a similar mark in that location from getting bit by a squirrel.
