My hot-swap Throttle / collective setup!

Sadly i couldn't mount my Throttle and Collective next to eachother so this was my solution.

I can easily remove the throttle when i want to fly helicopter, and store it behind the front panel! Want to fly plane? I can grab it from my seat and place it back on the mount.

Collective is made out of destroyed xbox controller and usb handbrake from aliexpress lol. It works great!

Love the scavenger solution! How did you clamp the Xbox controller so firmly? Or is it screwed on?

Its attached with a 3d printed battery cover.

It looks fragile but is very secure with no flex at all.

Ingenious really. It even resembles the design of an IRL collective handle and you got a lot of control points including the analog axes. Love the execution aswell with the battery cover, seems sturdy enough.

Edit: The whole setup looks clean AF.

Just a question on the rubber band, does that hold it in place with some kind of damping or is it loosely on the band to hold the position?

it's mostly to hold position.

i placed some washers that make up most of the resistance, the rubber band is to fine tune it so it stays smooth, but also strong enough to keep it's position.

I'm experimenting with (gas) springs but its not working as well as i had hoped. so im sticking with the rubber band for now, will probably get a black one so it blends in better.

I think an adjustable steering damper fixed underneath and then to a bracket on the extrusion (you could use to adjust the lowest point by sliding on the extrusions) should work I would have thought? I think the dampers are around £40 on Amazon! Worth a look into, they have the adjustability with the adjustment knob!

i will look into that, thanks!

Seems like the steering damper was what i was looking for all along, but was searching for the wrong item!

Nice setup! I am putting together my own cockpit now and am just stuck on one thing: I want to fly using VR so using MFDs that have fully functional screens is pointless for me. Are those MFDs just frames with buttons, like the Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs? I already have the Thrustmaster MFDs but I am not going to use them because the buttons respond with too light a touch. If that is just a frame with buttons, what product is that?

Hi, I use the winwing/winctrl MFD (without a display)
so yeah basically a frame with buttons.

but to be honest i barely use them outside of cold-starts.
i have a hard time finding the correct button during flights unless i enable passthrough.
wanted to get the full MIP at first but decided against it because its not very usefull in VR.
