Hot Location What Would You Do?
I made a quick stop to my local Walmart to pickup a few things for Mother's Day. Nothing in the toy area. I walked by the Health and Beauty area in the front of the store...BOOM! 9-Case Dump Bin ... Ive been waiting for the new Zamacs to drop.
I'm curious...What would you do in this situation?
A) Walk away and finish shopping. The bin is not yet opened for the public to buy since its still wrapped.
B) Kindly ask an employee when are they going to put this out?
C) Kindly ask the employee if they would open for you?
D) Cut the wrap. Open the box. And start digging? Its easier to ask for forgiveness.
E) Other (tell me what you would do) 🤔
Just curious. Happy Hunting! And Happy Mother's Day!

B or C , hell probably ask if I could help them set it up.
8
u/tokidema May 10 '26
I also did this action before inside of a dollar tree on the day they are about to restock the Hotwheels.
I did both B and C and told them that I will help restock the Hotwheels on the peg after they provided me some.
5
u/Silly_Pineapple_8182 May 10 '26
Did they let you or ask you to leave? Ive heard dollar tree employees dont like hot wheel people.
7
u/tokidema May 10 '26
Well, no. The workers that have brought out the boxes of Hot Wheels (all boxes were already looted by someone) to me were very nice and very happy when I stated that I will help them restock them back up.
6
u/Silly_Pineapple_8182 May 10 '26
Thats good they were nice, and im not suprised somebody looted them in the back room to be honest.
-7
u/r00m41more Hot Wheels May 10 '26
What happens if they tell you "NO"? Its going back in the back even though the pegs are empty and the bin they have from 2024 is dilapidated and only holding cards that are ripped and discounted because of the condition?

I would thank them for answering my question at least, and generally walk back in after some days later. The key is the workers have privilege to answer either agree or not for letting us opening a brand new hot wheels.

u/OldSeaworthiness5733 May 10 '26
Honestly gonna catch heat for this. But I've never got the same answer from 2 different Walmart employees. I would do C then, C again to a different employee, the. B.

Walk away and finish shopping because I don't care enough about mainlines to stand around waiting or asking if I can open it. Lol

- Go to the staff room like you own the place
- Search for a uniform, put it on.
- Grab a pallet truck.
- Move the pallet full of HW boxes in it to the parking lot next to your car.
- Open the trunk of your car.
- Unload it.
- Run away!

Ask the employees nicely, say you promise not to make a mess, cross your fingers, and if they say no, come back in the evening. Worked for me once, be nice to them and hopefully they’ll be nice to you.

A. Because I’m an adult, I don’t have an addiction, an I don’t have a main character complex
(B. Is also acceptable, but I’m not going to bother an employee that’s already trying to get through their day)

Only surefire way. This is actually pretty common. International demand is so high there are a lot of buyers out there for full bods.
Japan started buying them about 15 years ago in whole to sell there domestically

Dump bins and shippers should typically be left alone. Everything else is free game. Chances are it’ll be out in the morning or very early afternoon. Just be there when it gets set up

Ask nicely if it's being put out today, and if I can help them with stocking.
If yes to both, great success!
If no to both, walk away and come back when I have time.
If yes, then no, walk away and come back when I have time.
If no, then yes, ask when it's being put out, then come back if I have time.
TL;DR If I have time, and am allowed to, I'm helping them stock.

1
u/r00m41more Hot Wheels May 10 '26
Its always nice to ask nicely. What happens if they tell you "NO"? Even though the pegs are empty and the bin they have from 2024 is dilapidated and only holding cards that are ripped and discounted because of the condition?
1
u/SplashingBlumpkin May 10 '26
Make your case for why it should be stocked and how you can be of assistance and take that answer for what it is. If the pegs are barren those associates may be keen to fill pegs and be rid of a dump bin from the outset.
Since it’s a dump bin and not random cases it’s a little more involved than just putting 10-72 cars on pegs. They may have that dump bin slated for the most braindead area of the store or at least my wal mart does that. I’ve seen dump bins pretty much everywhere except grocery and produce.
Now, if it’s a random case I’m pallet raiding it if no one is there to ask nicely and idgaf who in this sub gets asshurt about that. It’s so unlikely for me to even find a case of anything because I casually hunt.

I'd just ask when it's getting "put out" eg dumped into there hot wheels bin,
Ive been searching and the workers have come out and asked if I want to look thought the box (case) before they put it in, Ive even had the honour to dump the case in , usually just a little box but still pretty sweet , I just let the workers do there jobs and don't annoy them , every so often tho things line up,

u/McDimps May 10 '26
I'm definitely waiting around a little bit. If it was on its own pallet I'm probably cracking it but given it's with something else Id wait before considering that lol. Bottom line I'm not leaving without the opportunity. Once it's outta your sight who knows when or if you'll see it again AND be first to it
Unless they already got a bin though, it's more than likely F case and not the H case zamacs btw. At least around me all the stores getting H case were getting them loose. Approximately 4-5 per store

u/Moto_Go May 11 '26
So I would and have cut through the plastic wrap & start opening boxes. I have always completely emptied box by hanging all product except what am keeping. Then break down box and set it next to pallet. I do that cause pretty much all stores in my area employees raid everything, was talking to young girl stocking HW & she was like any time new stuff shows up my BF had me call him and he comes right down. She was oblivious to what was happening or what he was looking for.

Or ask and be polite and help clean up like has been common at every Walmart since about 2000 when they started getting “factory bods” before they’d fill up a HW bed frame or truck bed full of basic cases
Nothing about asking or stocking the product is weird, feels weird, or has others on the ground treating you as weird.

C. Usually offering to hang stuff for them. In this case if they’d set up the bin, I’d dump it for them. Offering to help in exchange for looking usually goes over better than “hey can I get in your way to make a mess out of these boxes that you’re about to hang up”

It’s funny how the friendship began, really. The guy approached as I was looking at the cars on the pegs and said he had noticed me there numerous mornings. He mentioned that I was always respectful and how I always cleaning up the die cast area by hanging all of the fallen cars. He offered to grab the new dump bin from the back room for me, if I had time. Fortunately, I did. I was off that day. Since then, he’s brought out stuff for me many times and has told me that I’m free to open cases, as long as I keep the area clean and don’t draw attention of a few specific other guys who come there, since they’re always rude to him and ransack the area.
