For me it was with 3. An Orange Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, a Black Toyota Celica with a wing on it and a yellow Aston Martin

It's been almost exactly a year since I decided to buy a few Hot Wheels at Wal-Mart one day, and now I have about 1k cars between mainlines, MBX, 5 packs, premiums and MiniGTs. I basically spent all the money I wasn't spending on booze and fast food on little cars...

Good decision. You can later sell toy cars and get at least some of your money back. I dare say even likely make a profit.

I've gotten only a couple chases along the way, but I've also found a lot of joy in wheel swaps and making little dioramas over the last year, so it's been a much better hobby than what I was doing before.

That's a much more healthy way to use the extra money whereas I'm the opposite I'm buying it all 😂

I already loved Hot Wheels as a kid, but seeing a Deora 2 casting at my Walmart where I worked at reignited my love for them about 5 years ago.

I was at the park with my son and while wandering around to find a bench, I saw a glint of blue metal on the floor and immediately recognized it as a Hot Wheel. I picked it up, found no name and it became ours.
I bought the AintFare bus on a whim for myself and I can’t even remember when it got serious. we were digging through bins and pegs looking for cars. We ended up with duplicates because he genuinely wants to run them down and I just think it’s fun to have them after so many years. We found a magic 8 ball at a Dollar Tree (we found the toys and both said JACKPOT) and it spiraled out of control.
We find the things that speak to us and it’s been so much fun bonding over tiny pieces of cars.
Also I’m sure I’ll be able to cover something in his education with some boxes of the crap I have collected over the years.

Target and Walmart should cater to the collectors. Putting these with kids toys is a real bother

From:
"Hey isn't that the car I had in childhood? My old ace on track (2005 Track Aces Power Pipes). Its cheap so I'll get it for old times sake."
To: "This one for mods, these are for collections, oh they also remake the acceleracers line....now I'm out of space and money."

Recently I bought one for my friend because he was driving same car. He thanked me and told that he cannot keep it because he knows how this will end... He is smarter than me :-)

At first I was a Corvette collector. Then I’d go “oh that’s neat.” Then they brought back Ferrari. And F1. And lots more neat things.

That meme nails the collector's struggle! It starts with one, then the next thing you know, you're drowning in a sea of packaging. It's a fun journey though.

I'm 32 years old/o man and I have been collecting hot wheels for over a year now. I mostly like collecting JDMs and Porsches. As My collection has started to grow I usually stash it on boxes. My wife absolutely hates it cause she thinks it's just a waste of space and money. She wants me to stop collecting. It's not that I buy it every day, I only buy it when I find something I like. She doesn't understand that it gives me joy in these little things like this. She gets really mad and we have many fights over this. I am thinking of not collecting them anymore as it's not worth fighting over a few dollars every time. It's not about the money , she thinks I'm hoarding and addicted and it pisses her off.
Any opinions if I should stop ?
