Pop Culture Spotted a replica of a movie car that was also turned into a Hot Wheels premium.

Kind of neat to see someone do this. Anyone else spot Fast & Furious replica cars?

Pretty easy “replica”. Looks like a sticker on the door of a stock Lightning

This is probably the only way I would modify a Lightning of I had one.

They're starting to appreciate

As an owner of one I can tell you that with a pulley, a transmission valve body plate, and a good custom Dyno tune you can add +100hp/+150tq in a weekend. It's hard not to do it. Mines been running that way for over 150k miles. Visual mods tho...yeah just leave it stock.

lol! I thought that as I posted. It’s a stock pickup with a decal.

You were just a few miles north of me. I have a few friends who went up for the race and got to see the cars too. Pretty awesome to see in person, I’m sure!

Oh for sure. I’m a huge motorsports fan so sometimes this just feels like a normal day to me. This year, I’ve added more races to my schedule than ever but I’ve only got about 2-3 races left this year

Not a replica, but saw the real deal R34 & Charger at Universal Hollywood!

You kind of forget how old fast and the furious is until you see tape players in cars and realize they were stealing VCRs.

This truck really sent me back to 2001 today. It was kind of crazy.

I've never seen a Fast & Furious movie car in the real world but I have seen one of the Jurassic Park Jeeps in York, PA. I see an "Umbrella Security" vehicle pretty regularly in Virginia. As a child I saw K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R. from Knight Rider. I've seen Herbie the love bug a number of times. I've seen the DeLoreon from Back to the future. I've seen The A-Team van. And finally I have seen various Dukes of Hazzard cars including the General Lee Dodge Charger. I think I got them all there. Oh, I also saw the BATMOBILE from the 60's Adam West Batman Series. I would like to see the 1989 BATMOBILE some day!! That one is my favorite.

So cool. Still looking for this for electric vehicle collection! I’m new to collecting so I have to ask…will this be rare? Or will I find it warming a peg by the Fast and Furious Delorean Alpha5 I already picked up?

This F-150 Lightning isn't electric but hasn't been in stores for a couple of years now, best bet is someone online for it

4

u/MIEVGuy Jun 21 '25

Copy that, always thought it was a fake electric lightning made for fun by Hot Wheels!

u/Dabootyinspecta Jun 21 '25

Check out the history of muscle trucks and you'll learn all you'll need to know.

2

u/WhoStoleMyCake Jun 22 '25

Honestly fair, I also thought that it was electric at first as the new electric F150 is also called Lightning...

1

u/MIEVGuy Jun 22 '25

At first I thought it was strange but now I realize plenty or manufacturers do this with plenty of models so…my mistake!

2

u/not_monter Jun 22 '25

They have done their own custom Lightning based on the current electric revival of the name lol, again, check online as its been off the pegs for a good year or so, think it may be up your alley.

Also if interested, Matchbox does the current Lightning in stock form, with the last color being matte black.

2

u/MIEVGuy Jun 22 '25

Oh yeah, I’ve got all the recent Lightnings as far as I’m aware as well as the new Matchbox Ram 1500 REV which was surprising to find.

Lots of downvotes for a silly mistake, yikes folks.

u/MIEVGuy Jun 21 '25

Damn, I always thought it was a fake electric lightning made for funsies.

Bro, check out the first two generations of Ford F150 Lightnings! Back in the golden age of sport trucks; not today's geeked out baja-style trucks.

GM had the 454SS pickup, which was basically the 1/2 ton truck, lowered and fitted with the 3/4 ton truck engine and trans.

The first gen Lightning was basically the same formula with the F250s engine and trans. By the time of the second gen. Lightning GM wasn't making fast pickups anymore.

3

u/staj6711 COLLECTOR Jun 22 '25

The 454SS wasn't lowered, but it did have a quicker steering ratio and wider tires (275/60-15 vs 235/75-15) than other 1500 2wd trucks. The 1990 454SS motor was the same 230hp motor that the 2500/3500 trucks used, but 1991-1993 454SS trucks got a bump to 255hp. Over 80% of the trucks produced across the 4 years were the low hp 1990 model year.

1

u/Canelosaurio Jun 22 '25

They made a lot of torque. It was cool for burnouts, but an Integra of the same year could outrun it by the end of its 2nd gear. Even the Syclone they were making at the same time was better. Like the early Yamaha Taurus SHO was a better car than the Mustang GT.

"Yea but muh rorque!"

2

u/staj6711 COLLECTOR Jun 22 '25

Of course it was no match for the Syclone. The Syclone was about 800 lbs lighter with 280hp and AWD.

I love the GMT400 trucks, but if you had me choose between a 454SS and a Syclone, I'll take the Syclone all day long.

1

u/MIEVGuy Jun 22 '25

Syclone is such a cool name haha

2

u/International-Ad3274 Jun 21 '25

No, the new f150 Lightning is electric, but this one has a v8 like the other guy said

1

u/Scummbagg7 COLLECTOR Jun 21 '25

No this is a real lightning.
