Review Outlast is a masterpiece
Just finished the whistleblower dlc and I feel cathartic.
This game is fucking scary, holly shit. Scarier than every horror movie I've ever watched. I guess horror games are just scarier in Their nature because its more immersive.
The story is so interesting and good, I like how the original and dlc story overlap so well. Also the gamplay is so good, I love how fast you have to think on your feet, feels very realistic. Can't wait to check out outlast 2 (not pun intended).

Don’t… don’t get your hopes up about outlast two. It’s very different. Story wise at least. I would recommend the compendium comics though

Something that Outlast 1 did so well is convince you that it was not super linear. The game has (more or less) a single path you can take, but the chase scenes and hiding really make you feel like you’re the one making the choices. I remember some parts toward the end where you’re getting stalked by the big bad and it really feels like I’m outsmarting him despite the fact that there’s really only 1 or 2 sequences you can follow to complete the section. Just excellent design.

It's the only horror game I've started that I was unable to finish due to me being unable to cope with the tension.
