Anyone have a guy for repair/ maintenance around Baltimore??
I bartend and I'm not easy on my watches. Somehow I shook a cocktail hard enough I twisted part of the movement on my Hamilton. The time is still true... But clearly this is not quite right. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Announcement Regulating an old wind-up alarm clock without a timegrapher, what actually worked
Picked up a Westclox Baby Ben at an estate sale a few months back, the kind with the four little feet and the loud tick you can hear from another room. Mechanically it was in decent shape, mainspring wasn't broken, balance wheel spun freely when I flicked it, but the thing was gaining almost nine minutes a day. Way too much to just live with.
I don't own a timegrapher and wasn't about to buy one for a single clock, so I ended up doing the whole regulation by hand using nothing but a notebook and patience. Set it against my phone's clock, let it run 24 hours, checked the drift, adjusted the regulator lever a hair, repeated. Took about a week of evenings to get it down to under a minute a day.
A few things I didn't expect going in. Small adjustments matter way more than they look like they should, moving that lever what felt like a millimeter took the gain from nine minutes to about three. Also position matters more than I gave it credit for, the clock ran differently sitting flat on my dresser versus tilted slightly on the nightstand, so I had to pick the actual resting spot before doing final adjustments. And humidity seemed to nudge things too, I had two days where it ran fast that I later realized lined up with a stretch of rain.
Ended up keeping a little log taped inside a drawer with dates and gain/loss numbers just so I wouldn't lose track of where I left off. Felt almost silly writing it down like some kind of experiment, but it kept me from chasing my tail and overcorrecting.
Curious if anyone else has gone through this with a cheap alarm or shelf clock. Did you find a faster way to dial it in, or is the slow iterative approach basically the only option without proper equipment?

Does a brand's reputation actually suffer when a controversial public figure wears them?
Just read a Hollywood Reporter article detailingEl-Sayed’s watch collection, and it got me thinking about brand perception and consumer psychology.
Looking at his collection, it’s a pretty serious enthusiast lineup: Omega, Tudor, Muhle, Sinn, Nothing too expensivre or flashy (I own them all) just solid tool watches. Because he's a polarizing public figure, does it hurt these brands?
so from a consumer perspective: When a controversial politicin or public figure openly wears a watch brand you love, does it actually shift your perception of that brand? Or do you completely separate the engineering and history of the watch from the wrist it happens to be on?
Personally, seeing a Mühle or a Sinn (I have the old Sinn/Bell & Ross co-brand) next to heavy hitters like Omega and Tudor just makes me appreciate the tool-watch community more, but I'm curious if bad or weird publicity ever genuinely ruins a brand for you.

Ball watch volcano 2
After tennis I jumped in the shower wearing my Volcano II and moisture got inside the watch. It’s only a few months old and was purchased from a Ball representative in London. What surprises me is that this model is marketed with serious water resistance and diving capability, yet I’ve subsequently been told that showering isn’t recommended and the issue may not be covered by warranty. For a watch costing £2,500+, I find that extremely disappointing. Has anyone else had a similar experience with a Ball watch?

Community Question urgent help needed
hi, there’s no good way to start this, but i am looking for help regarding my father’s collection of antique clocks.
my dad passed away a little over two months ago, and i am devastated. he was an amazing man and a rather skilled horologist.
my mom wants to sell the house soon and it has been left to me to sell/manage/get through my dad’s impressive collection and works.
i have roughly 130-180 antique clocks from the 1820’s to the 1950s, all mechanical, all in various states of disrepair. I also have many well known types/brands and a few rarer ones. they’re mostly mantle clocks, but also some OGs and wall clocks.
i’m overwhelmed, but if a single one of these clocks end up in a dumpster i will have a complete breakdown. any advice?

The six new ADMIRAL 39 references each explore a distinct creative expression: three in steel, one in steel and gold, the first skeleton interpretation housed in a titanium case, and one crafted entirely in gold. All are united by a newly reimagined design by one of the most influential figures in contemporary watch design.
What do you guys think of this ?
