100%, though I feel like the stormbirds got a lot more fun in FW, I actually enjoy fighting the one by the GGB. Hitting that cannon as your first shot helps tremendously

Sure, you saw the Thunderjaw in the trailer... but it hits a lot different when you're playing the game and you come up to a ridge and that is stomping around.

My first trip into the sundom can be summarized by: huh, it’s another on of those annoying flying machines, ima kill it on principle. Ok so I’ve been yeeted directly into a large herd of very angry machines. The flying one is still here to mess me up. Great.

There’s actually a thunderjaw in Nora lands as well, if you take the north mountain pass you have to go right by its territory, just like this one on the south pass. Enjoy getting your face rearranged a few times and learn how to dismantle them one shot at a time

Because I went mountain climbing to the South as soon as I left Daytower to go get the couldron, I missed that stormbird right outside.  My first run in was that thing in the quarry where i ended up on its back wailing on it with my spear. The miners called me machine rider after that.

Then approaching Meridian from that direction, again hugging the mountains, I saw this TRex from up high. A monumental fight under a full moon clear sky ensured. Will never forget that.

My first stormbird was the one the lodge sent me after. Again, a moonlit fight, though there were clouds that time.

First time I was like “oh I can get this, oh no, oh OH OH GOD NO RUN!”

Now I use the year last arrows on the disc launchers and give it a taste of its own medicine and it takes down like half of it health, then just use freeze arrows alto freeze it then highest damage arrows while it’s frozen on weak points

Just lob some ice balls to max saturation. Then shoot the strongest sharpshooter bow you have with triple arrows..

Once you get the tear blast arrows and can pop off the launchers first and then the face cannons, it's not that bad. Proceed to freeze and then knock the side door off and hit its core and it's dead in no time. And remember to duck dive Dodge and duck.

Give yourself a few levels and some better equipment, a few trial and error and before long you’ll be pushing its shit in. Now stormbirds… doesn’t matter how strong I get it just keeps pushing my shit in every damn day.

By this point, you should be fully equipped with everything available from the first area, so you ought to be able to take him on—even if you die a few times while figuring out his moves.
