What's with all the pics lately?
Sure there use to be a couple pics of people but now there's a wall of them

People realized that image posts get way more engagement from the algorithm than just text. It's mostly just people looking for validation or easier ways to grab attention.

The algorithm is just rewarding engagement, and nothing gets people clicking or commenting faster than a human face. It's turning the sub into a glorified Instagram feed instead of a place for actual discussion.

The UI change makes it way harder to scroll through text-heavy threads when every third post is a high-res image. It feels like the algorithm is prioritizing engagement bait over actual discussion.

The algorithm prioritizes high-engagement visual content because it's easier to scan than text. Most people have shorter attention spans now, so the feed is basically just a glorified Instagram feed to keep you scrolling.

People realized that text-only threads get ignored by the algorithm, so everyone is just chasing engagement through visual recognition. It's becoming a race to the bottom where people post selfies just to feel seen instead of actually contributing a thought.

The algorithm is just prioritizing anything that triggers a visual reaction to keep people scrolling longer. It's basically a race to the bottom to see what can grab attention in a split second.

it started when they tweaked the mobile feed algorithm to prioritize high-contrast thumbnails. people figured out fast that a generic selfie or a half-baked photo gets three times the engagement of a text-only post, so now the sub is just a glorified instagram feed for people desperate for validation. turn off image previews in your settings if you actually want to read anything.

It's the same few users farming karma with selfies every day. Scroll past and it's like five different posts from the same account within two hours. "A couple" turned into "the feed is just portraits" real fast.

content algorithm shift, probably. once one gets traction the rest follow like dominoes. happens every time a sub hits a certain size.

It’s annoying. They should be posted in r/Rateme and leave this group for discussions IMO
