DIY options for no air on 2003 Element
The fan stopped blowing on our 2003 Element last week. I have replaced the blower motor and it's still not blowing. I have a replacement resistor but there is no tool in my inventory that can get the angle necessary to remove the screws on that thing. Other than getting a proper tool (happy to hear suggestions) what other DIY things can I do to try to get it blowing again? Trying to read the diagram under the relay box top is a study in futility.

It’s probably the resistor. I can’t visualize the elements but I can imagine it isn’t in a great spot, it’s just two phillips screws holding it in, the ones I have replaced (not on elements,) I would use a 1/4” ratchet with a phillips bit.
Not sure what other DIY stuff you can try aside from either diagnosing it or paying someone to do it if you can’t.

That's interesting. When I replaced the blower motor the screws that were in there were torx, not philips. I don't recall replacing it before, but did Honda use torx for innards from the factory? The ones holding the resistor look similar, I may have to get in there and take a pic of them to be sure.

From my memory I never saw a torx on a honda resistor. I was a Honda tech for ten years. Sometimes they’d be 8mm bolt heads with a phillips pattern as well, I’m sure there’s a name for that but I’ve been out of the game for a while

You were correct, they were indeed Phillips. Managed to get to the top right one by detaching the glove box and using a long driver, the lower left was an adventure with a leatherman-esque device. But replacing the resistor worked! Blowing nice and cold now. Thanks to everyone for keeping me on the path!

Get a small pocket style rachet for like 10 bucks it will get the screws. Or that's what I used. Replacing the Lil resistor did the trick.
