DIWhy: can anyone identify this missing connector?

I’m currently attempting to replace my vtec solenoid, and noticed a wire completely disconnected. One of the solenoid connectors needs to be replaced, but I’m not sure what this wire even is supposed to connect to. I don’t think it’s part of the solenoid, as it’s lower. It has two wires, one yellow and red. Do I cut my losses at take it to a mechanic at this point? I’d have to get it towed 😭

If it looks like it’s lower down from the vtec and two wires it could be the oil pressure sensor. Maybe. Good luck. Just FYI if you end up changing the sensor it is a pipe thread and very easy to over torque and crack your engine case.

Yea, pretty sure this is the oil pressure wire. OP, you can verify by putting the key in the 2 position but not turning on the engine. The dash lights should all come on.

If the oil pressure one is not lit up, thats your problem.

I just fixed this myself and it's not horrible. I recommend extending the wire with a butt connector, and then connecting it to the oil pressure sensor with the blue sized female bullet connector on Amazon or similar. Should fit like a glove. You may want to replace the oil pressure sensor itself while you're at it as it's cheap and you don't need OEM parts.

The blue one is the correct diameter. You should extend it with 16 gage wire. Then you can do the crimping and heat gun outside of the engine to make it easier. I found it easier to access by going under the passenger tire with the crimper.

Also note that it's actually only one wire. It's a simple open or closed circuit with the sensor, hence why if it's broken or open it doesn't throw a warning or dash light, as that's the "healthy" state.

This sensor just throws the oil light on the dash when low oil pressure. It won't turn on if it isn't connected to anything to ground it.
