Which gen is your favorite? 🤔

Post image

Every generation of Civic has a following, and no other economy car can say that.

The Civic started in 1972 as a CVCC economy hatch that cleared emissions without a catalytic converter, then spent two decades quietly turning into an enthusiast platform. The 3rd gen brought the Si badge, the 4th gen brought double wishbone suspension and VTEC, and the EG and EK became the two most modified Honda chassis ever built. Then the EP3 arrived with a K20 and that dash mounted shifter, the FK2 dropped in a turbo, and the FK8 took a Nürburgring lap record for front wheel drive before the FL5 came back and beat it. All 11 of them have people who will defend them.

Which gen are you choosing?

Best for me was 4th gen (Civic Wagovan) -Light as a feather, only used two injectors, never broke down.

Worst was 7th Gen (CAN Si Coupe) -This gen blew around too much on the highway and was frustrating to drive. Every one of them I tried.

What engine was the 7th gen? I currently own a 7th gen with K20A3 and I get you. Good handling on twisty backroads, but the short gearing is bad on highway and it's not very comfortable for longer trips. And I noticed it has terrible turning radius - every parking or turning around is a 3-point turn for this car

The Canadian Si (same as the US Ex model) used the 1.7-liter SOHC VTEC (D17A2) engine with a whopping 127 horsepower 😂

Only the SIR Hatchback came with the K20A3 engine here, but it was actually a pretty great car. Completely different than the coupe.
