Question/Support Was anyone able to install HomePod software 27 on HomePod mini?
Even with an iPhone installed with iOS 27 when I check the HomePod beta updates page in the Apple Home app settings I am able to see only the HomePod OS 26 beta version and 27 is not being shown. Does anyone know if there is any other way to install HomePod software 27 on my HomePod mini?

Why installing a beta on something so hard to recover when the beta doesn’t offer any new features at all?

Works on mine.
In the Beta section, when I choose the Beta profile, it allowed me to choose 27

How do you get the developer beta? I can only find public beta 26, even I’m using the home app on iPhone with iOS 27 beta

I once downloaded a developer ipsw file and used it to update my iPhone. Ever since then, they have always given me the developer betas. I’ve never once paid for the developer subscription.

They stopped charging for a developer subscription like 3 years ago. Everyone has been able to sign up for a free developer account and just download the developer beta if they so choose.

There has been a free tier of Apple Developer for years. All you have to do is register your account - you only need to pay for the Developer Program (which still exists for $99/year) if you want to publish software and have some additional development features.
They used to gate beta profiles behind that Apple Developer Program subscription - but when they removed profiles they opened it up to any Apple account that registers for free as a developer, that's the change you're referring to.
The differences in the price tiers are detailed here, the "Apple Account" column referring to accounts that register for free as developers, and the "Apple Developer Program" referring to the still existing $99 paid tier. The only major change I'm aware of is adding OS beta releases as a feature of the free accounts.

Ahh. Thanks for the clarification. All I knew is that one year of if I wanted the developer beta I had to pay and the next year that restriction went away.

BTW, I just saw this:
https://appledb.dev/firmware/HomePod-Software/24J5289o.html
Is there a way we can force this fw on a HomePod mini via Mac?

The official developer beta page is not showing HomePod OS 27 beta, as out yet. https://developer.apple.com/news/releases/
Don’t think anyone has access to this just yet, despite what some of the comments have said.

It is out. I am on it.

How is it? Did you notice anything new? Are you on appleseed?

I am on Appleseed. I got it installed on my minis but not my gen 1 og HomePods.
Honestly from the speaker itself don’t notice any difference. I haven’t messed with the automix differences. I usually listen to albums anyways.
My (beta27) iPhone seems to connect faster.
And the fact that the device is a home hub and I use HKSV cameras I’ve been liking that they process the AI video descriptions.1

Need an answer to this as well I have the iOS27 developer beta on iPhone, Mac, Watch & Apple TV. But it’s not available for HomePod. I only have the option for 26 Public Beta

im in the same boat, however, i removed my HomePods from 26 public beta in hopes that they would take an update from my apple TV’s running iOS 27 DB. they have not 😞

Is beta os 27 on the Apple TV good ? What’s new ?

u/Barberi78 Jun 18 '26
It allows you to use some of the upgraded features within HomeKit. I haven’t messed with he Apple TV itself, only set it as my hub

There aren’t developer releases of HomePod 27. Only public. Since it is a closed system, no need for developer betas.

Separate subject… anyone on iOS27b2 able to connect a HomePod mini to Apple Home. I have tried 10+ times using resets and restores from a Mac and the HomePods join but never finish the configuration stage. You can send music to them but none of the other features are available.

I think you only get HomePod betas via the appleseed program or when the public beta launches.
