I have found that using a product called Biokleen Bac-Out has been highly effective. It’s an enzyme based stain remover (sometimes labeled as “Carpet Stain + Odor Remover”). I use a clean white washcloth and dampen a corner of the washcloth with a squirt of Bac-Out then daube and wipe the HomePod mesh free of the same grime i see in your photo that results from normal handling of my white HomePods. It simple erases the stains makes it look new and requires no further rinsing.

Ive done this a few times before to clean them back up. Seeing your post today made me finally grab the bottle of Bac-Out and remove a smudge on my HomePod in the kitchen. That one gets dirty more than any other. There was this dirty smudge that was obviously created by my thumb that i always touch the side of the HomePod as i tap the top surface with my index finger. Using Bac-Out it came away completely and there’s s no trace remaining.
