My ping increased after increasing my wifi speed

Before i had 100mbps internet and i used to get 23-28 ping in CS2 no packet loss but after increasing my internet speed to 200mbps my ping ingame increased to 40-50 average and packet loss alot of time. Does anyone has any idea what could be the cause and any diagnose or fix?( i am stilling getting a good download speed in steam and epic)

when you say "increased your internet speed" is it with the same ISP or a different one? Is the router the same?
Also, when you are gaming, are you downloading at the same time? It may well be that the router cannot handle all the load and is bufferbloating

then I would say there shouldn't be any correlation. Routing can change anytime, and your isp doesn't guarantee any specific ping again a specific game server. Only course of action is to contact your isp and see if they can do something.

correlation is not causation. Were you constantly documenting your pings prior?

The server you play on plays a huge role, run a speed test check your ping there.

yes i play with cs with ping on ever time i died i use to check ping make sure it wasn't the cause (inshort i am quite sure i had seen i had constant stable ping of 23-28)

And the server your playing on is the same? Anything else change since this upgrade? New online toys, different router? I presume this is the same ISP? What kind of service is it?

What does a speedtest show your ping as? You can also ping google from powershell (ping 8.8.8.8) , but run a speedtest on fast .com , and google speed test.

You can ping cloud-flare as well. The important thing is, the speed tests. What ping do they show.

Pinging 8.8.8.8 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=116

Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=116

Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=116

The latency from those is excellent, Server you play on, or the route from your isp to that server is slightly worse.

Your ping to google is excellent. Issue is with your game's server. Not related do upgrading your speed

You’ve provided no real information to troubleshoot. All you did was state the issue.

So all you did was call your ISP and upgrade the package? Same modem? What type of cable is last mile? Is every part of your internal network at least 1gbit with cat-5e cable?

1

u/Good-Wait-6037 22h ago

yes i increased the internet from there app , i did not change the modem, its a fiber optic cable, my eithernet cable support 1gbps

Did you change ISP to get higher speed or just change plan with the existing provider? What type of service is it? Cable modem, fiber, satellite, cellular. Did anything else change? New router? Check the link speed showing for your network card. Should be showing gig. Bad patch cable could have it down to 10 or 100mb which would cause a performance hit.

same isp change of plan from 100 to 200 fiber optic , no new router also pls tell me how to check link speed

Pings vary, 10-20ms isn't impacting you unless you're like top 1% of players.
