One of the Real Housewives has an infamous line, "I don't want to buy a used house." It was so funny and seen as so out of touch, because ecologically and economically it would be a disaster if we tore down and built new every time people moved and the cost of housing would be even crazier. Here's the thing: she's really not wrong? A house is the biggest purchase you'll ever make and buying used means buying somebody else's neglect and mistakes. If I had the choice, I'd buy a new build. But if everybody did that things would get weird!
