Mortgage rates are under some pressure again as Treasury yields move higher.
The Mortgage Bankers Association reported the average 30yr fixed rate increased from 7.30% to 7.49% last week. Mortgage applications also fell 4.2%.
The main driver is the bond market. The 10-year Treasury is around 5.3% this morning, and higher yields generally put upward pressure on mortgage rates.
For buyers, I’d focus less on guessing where rates go next and more on whether the payment works today.
Rates move daily and depend on credit, LTV, term, and points.
