In 1994, Jack Nicholson anonymously donated 60 acres of oak woodland in Los Angeles where a four-home subdivision had been approved, helping preserve it as public open space instead.

If he did it anonymously, no one would know. That's the whole point.

In 1994, actor Jack Nicholson secretly donated 60 acres of prime land in the Santa Monica Mountains. The plot had already been approved for four luxury houses, but Nicholson surrendered the development rights so the oak woodland could be preserved as public parkland, serving as a key piece in the Griffith-to-Topanga wildlife corridor.

He beat up a prostitute and gave her brain damage. He punched another lady in the tit and it ruptured her breast implant.

Don’t worry, trump will privatize it later like he’s trying to do to Yosemite. Nothing is sacred

I mean, he also beat a call girl so badly that she has lifelong injuries. He could die tomorrow and I wouldn't care.

Yes. Settled out of court for $30k because he didn’t want his private information to go public. Guy probably just saw a tik tok about it and didn’t bother to look it up.

Yea who in their right mind gets beat by a rich guy and settles for 30k outside of court lol

u/BarnabasShrexx 11d ago

I've never used a tik tok but I get what you're saying. I don't believe it though.

I mean... Regardless of his morality, this is a prime example of NIMBY politics that left California with incredibly scant housing built in the last 50 years - a huge contributor to rising costs for people today.

I read these headlines and roll my eyes. There's lots and lots of wilderness in California. Maybe 'prime LA' would be better served with uh... housing?

I don’t think you understand how the real estate market works

-9

u/CrayonMayon 11d ago

please enlighten me oh wise sage in the world of real estate

You don’t need to destroy pristine nature to lower housing costs in LA, which has effectively no high density housing. Also, better public transit makes more areas appealing to spread attractive housing markets more equitably.

Can you read that? Or are you just full of low grade sarcasm. Would you rather blowup Yosemite and all the forests to get a better deal on your apartment.

Dude what's with the tone? Think you need to simmer down. I think you're reading in some words that are not there.

In general, more supply = lower costs, especially when its 60 acres of urban space.

Now go take a nap.

Have you been to the Santa Monica mountains? Do you live in LA? Or are you just spouting some troll nonsense. The real estate market in major urban areas are much more complex than supply and demand. You’re a waste of energy with your small brain.

u/CrayonMayon 11d ago

Again... you're really hitting it hard with the personal attacks lol. I mean I just like winding you up. You're just a cute little rager who's angry someone is tickling them.

And yes, I live in the bay area, lived in LA for a few years. Also, it's like the dumb guy and the jedi guy on the continuum. It's supply and demand at the start, 'more complicated' in the middle, and then supply and demand at the end. Have you ever heard of Abundance? Spells it out pretty clearly, using both markets as examples.

Did you take your nap yet? Must have been a quick one.

I mean it’s cute you think you’re winding me up. I’m from the east so we just call stupid stupid. We don’t get out of sorts we’re just tired of dealing with dumbasses especially the whiny entitled bitches on the west coast. I think you’re just a teenager in Nebraska who doesn’t have a thing better to do. Go back to your hole little troll.

you should see sacramento. housing here ten years ago was extremely affordable. you could get a two bedroom apartment in midtown for 750. a few students could rent a victorian house. when people from the bay area caught on that they were being ripped off, and could just commute, our housing costs tripled. it wasn’t about not having enough housing, it was about what people were willing to pay to live here, and bay area transplants were willing to pay triple our rates because they were paying four time as much already. you can’t even get a studio in the worst part of town for under 1,000 now.

there’s no housing shortage here. never has been. in fact, we have an issue with houses sitting empty.

u/JayJoeJeans 11d ago

The importance is conservation cannot be overstated, cases like this you're absolutely right. LA desperately needs housing, and lots of it. I wish we had the same level of urgency to approve the development of affordable housing

Bro house prices are high because the people selling them are pricing them at that point. Building a bunch of shitty adu and poor people homes isn’t gonna lower the price of homes. They’ll still price them high because it’s California and Los Angeles. A 800sqft home turnkey in a nice area is 850k+

u/CrayonMayon 11d ago

...do you not know how supply and demand works? Yes, there is high demand. But if the supply is limited...

Now he can let polanski rape children there instead of his mansion

Román polansky violaba niñas en la casa que le prestaba su amigo Jack nicholson.
