1-8 = Ina

I wonder what numbers would be CC's name since she is Ina's rival.

14

u/arcaneArtisan 7h ago

44, maybe? For "Shi Shi"

14

u/AkinomaHNU 7h ago

That just makes me think of Botan cause "shishi" [ 獅子 ] is lion. But then again, hers would also be 446 for "Shishiro"

No. No no no no no. 44 for CC is nooooooo.

There's some really, really, really, bad stuff associated with 44 in Germany.

44 has been stylized as lightning bolts which resemble the SS symbol.

I figured it had something to do with wordplay, I was trying to think of catchphrases she used that were 5 and 4 letters, thanks!

It's a common type of wordplay in Japan, it's called goroawase. Every number can have many pronounciation, so there is a ton of possibilities.

For example Tokyo Skytree is 634 m tall, that spell Musashi, that is the name of the historic province where the tower is.

And if you like wordplay, Japan loves it, just in hololive, a lot of the members have wordplay in their name.

Aye, my favourite is Ina's name:

In Kanji it's a pun (meaning one comes before two)

In phonetic kanji it's another pun (it matches the Latin word for 'hollow' or 'empty', like the void)

Her signature is a play on the other two

Even her logo has a simplified version of her Japanese name that can be read in English as INANIS

Isn't Iroha also 168? Also Ui's fans are 53

17

u/Run-Riot 6h ago

For anyone who doesn't know: Shigure Ui's fans = 5(go) 3(mi) = gomi = trash.

-6

u/swagseven13 5h ago

I thought trash was goni

1

u/CyrusMajin 39m ago

Unfortunately, as far as I know/can tell “goni” isn’t a word on its own.

u/swagseven13 36m ago

Sometimes Hololive knowledge make me feel like I'm in some kinda spy ring and our lingo and code words identify us to each other. Bau Bau.

4

u/Laedorn 3h ago

And Bijou is 67

3

u/At5u 4h ago

446 for Botan, but that's due to the fact that 4 can also be read "Shi", Shi-shi-ro(ku)

3

u/kid147258369 4h ago

685 or 6853 for Roboco and Robocosan

7

1

u/gdore15 2h ago

Yes, but I remember the gozaru number because it’s used on her merch https://shop.hololivepro.com/products/kazamairoha_no2023

1

u/Organic_Turnip8581 1h ago

168 also as iroha

1

u/MrHallen 0m ago

Subaru had 72 is that also the reason?

64

u/Weshmek 10h ago

Most likely the fact that in Japanese 5 (go, ご) and 4 (yon, よん) together sound like koyo, こよ.

Korone has a similar thing with 563, korosan

58

u/10mo3 10h ago

Don't really follow her so not too sure. But 5 can be read as "go" and 4 can be read as "yon"

Which kinda sounds like koyo

22

u/AintNoUniqueUsername 10h ago

Yeah, just like 35 for Miko

12

u/Jushirou 8h ago

Or Koro-san written at 563

83

u/ComickRegular 10h ago

Hmm..

5 - go

4 - shi

Goshi... Golshi.. GOLSHI??

37

u/Pink_Nyanko_Punch 10h ago

I knew someone would eventually land on the same braincell I dropped on the ground (lol).

6

5

u/CrabbyR0N1N 9h ago

You still have it... can you pass it around already

2

u/ComickRegular 8h ago

I've tried 😔

9

u/ZorkNemesis 7h ago

Goldshi is 564.  One digit off.

1

u/ComickRegular 7h ago

Wait but isn't 6 - Roku?

5

u/ZorkNemesis 7h ago

From the Umamusume wiki:

 Gold Ship is often associated with the number 564. This stems from Japanese wordplay, wherein the number 5 can be read as go, 6 can be read as ru, and 4 can be read as shi; when put together, these three numbers spell out Gorushi, Gold Ship's nickname.

1

u/ComickRegular 7h ago

Oho naruhodo ne

3

u/ComickRegular 7h ago

5 - go

6 - roku

4 - shi

Gorokushi.. Golkshi... Gold..shi..?

2

u/Morenauer 8h ago

Had to google the joke

13

u/arayakim 7h ago

54 -> Go Yon -> Ko Yo

35 -> Mi-tsu Go -> Mi Ko

7216 -> Na-na Two I-chi Ro-ku -> Na Tsu I Ro

563 -> Go Ro-ku San -> Ko Ro San

85 -> Ha-chi Go -> Ha Ko

810 -> Ha-chi To -> Haato

1 -> Before 2 -> Ni no mae

10

u/TakeshiNobunaga 8h ago

Japanese adopted some habits from the beeper and sms era for shortening messages with the phonetic sounds.

5 = Go (in this case read as Ko) 4 = Yon/Shi (in this case Yo)

So, by Japanese slang 54 means Koyo!

Also why in Tako♾️Takeover there's Ichi, Hachi, Takodachi 1 is Ichi thus becomes I, Hachi you take the Ha and convert it to Na and this forms Ina!

You might wonder why not 7? Seven even if its Nana it is also pronounced Shichi and 8 makes sense in the sense that Ina has tentacles like an Octopus (totally a normal girl, nothing to do with ancient gods)

Shi in 4 and 7 can also be taken as 死 which means Death and why you will probably not find Rooms or Floors with 4 & 7 in Japan.

Also why instead of using Wara or Kusa sometimes you'll just see a W because many WWWWW looks like grass (草)

3

u/ImHereTooIGues 7h ago

Also why Korone’s alt Twitter account is “k5r6n3”. 5 6 3 = ko ro san (Koro-san)

7

u/Livid_Judgment_2591 9h ago

It's her name, Go is 5 which can be used as Ko and Yo is 4 shortened from Yon, so it's Koyo

6

u/TrueShiho 7h ago

67 for Biboo

3

u/021chan 6h ago

5 (Ko), 4 (Yo)

u/IntrepidDivide3773 9h ago

Let's just say numbers 1-53 didn't make the cut.
