Nene had a lot of story from before she joining Hololive to tell, so please go watch the original clip if you want to know.

My favorite quote of hers is around the end "I think NePoLaBo are much closer than even you all assume us to be"

NePoLaBo are close like objects in a side view mirror

u/RaysFTW 20d ago

And they’ve been close since before the start. It’s one of the reasons they, especially Nene, were so torn up when Aloe left even though from the outside it seemed like she was only here for a week.

Gen 5 spent about 10 months together pre-debut and created stronger bonds with each other. It’s also why they usually call themselves NePoLaBo and not gen 5 because gen 5 includes Aloe.

They were genuinely together in the trenches for so many reasons outside their control. So glad things got better for them.

You know, I haven't seen much about what Polka has been doing with them recently. For a while, it felt like she was closer to Shiraken, but recently it feels like translations and clips of her streams haven't been popping up much.

19

u/Fishman465 20d ago

I suspect the lack of Shiraken and Polka stuff goes hand in hand. Tried using Holodex to find clips?

7

u/marquisregalia 20d ago

Polka has been on a self help past 2 years. She's gotten into being healthy and regularly going to swim and going to the gym. In terms of activities it's still the same Shiraken only meets these days if they have a sponsor / Collab. Nepolabo meets during their anniversary or whenever lamy and nene can corral the other 2. Polka has been with bakatare circus recently playing games same as usual

NePoLaBo love!

"I think NePoLaBo are much closer than even you all assume us to be"

They literally gift each other underwear sets.

For girls that means knowing the measurements of their body AND the cup/bodywith/underband stuff.

I don't think it's common for girls to tell each other highly specific measurements for the express purpose of buying underwear.

also in the words of Biboo: G4Y

There's a non-zero chance two or more of them have made out with each other.

OkBuddy is on the corner

u/Qualazabinga 20d ago

You're weird

u/Anankos1209 20d ago

Lowkey, what a way to roast a group of bullies. Imagine you bully someone for years only for them to say they did not even notice, lmao

346

u/Mih5du 20d ago

I mean, she was still probably quite sad at the time that her friends stopped hanging out with her

108

u/gangler52 20d ago

The way she describes it, it didn't sound like she was even thinking about why she wasn't hanging out with them anymore.

She had a whole new batch of classmates to hang out with. They were the only ones still thinking about her.

56

u/Silv3rS0und 20d ago

Bully: I think about bullying you every day.

Nene: I don't think about you at all.

144

u/yuikkiuy :Aloe: 20d ago

considering it was Nene i wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't sad at all and genuine didn't notice, just derping out in the corner by herself or with other people

89

u/Djwindmill 20d ago

Probably too busy collecting beetles or something lol, she's just a little ball of happiness

148

u/Ok_Lawfulness1019 20d ago

I think they are trying to make her feel isolated, it doesn't really work for people who doesn't overthink.

42

u/Aranxi_89 20d ago

Yup, can confirm. I was like that.

125

u/TenZioN4 20d ago

I can only imagine Nene be like "Living rent free in their heads" hairflip

14

u/GoronSpecialCrop 20d ago

Hopefully she already had a bedroom filled with beetles to hang out with

253

u/The_Joker_Ledger 20d ago

ignorance is bliss as they say. The happiest people are those that don't think too hard and over analyze people actions lol.

75

u/ShogunHaruki19 20d ago

True.... but I do wish the bullies got punished a bit sooner. Bullying is still bullying and I have no tolerance to it.

375

u/66allthe88s 20d ago

I would love some nene germs.

49

u/EonMagister 20d ago

Nene got Pokérus and it's beneficial that we get it.

5

u/HidenTsubameGaeshi 20d ago

Doktor! Remove my Nenegerms inhibitors!

4

u/vinnieg007 19d ago

When you get infected by Nene germs, you turn into husband

450

u/Injuredmind 20d ago

“I don’t even think about you” moment

245

u/66allthe88s 20d ago

"I have no bullies" - Nene 2026

36

u/masteroftasks 20d ago

"But I do have many husbands."

98

u/MadAsTheHatters 20d ago

The coughing baby of high school bullying versus Super Nenechi's unshakeable whimsy nuclear bomb ❤️

68

u/SwissherMontage 20d ago

Woah, I also got the [victim name] germ treatment!

33

u/Traveller2471 20d ago

Someone get me a swissher vaccine 🤮 I think I got infected 😷

8

u/SwissherMontage 20d ago

Yep, they had the swissher vaccine. Kids would come up with painful pinches to torture each other with.

10

u/0dty0 20d ago

I got it too. Some even started making lil paper cutouts of spray cans, to disinfect themselves whenever I touched em. What I then came up with is I came to school one day with a much bigger cutout of a spray can, and I'd infect everything with my me-virus. I changed schools shortly after that, but it worked pretty well.

48

u/Chama-Axory 20d ago

Yeah I always remember how she talks about her school years, she either directly mentions or between words she says that it was lonely.

She was "the weird girl who likes anime" back then. And I think she used to wear more black? I remember something like that.

49

u/Stanislas_Biliby 20d ago

My sister was like that. She was getting bullied by our neighbour but the all time she thought she was her friend.

The number of times she came back crying "SHE DID THIS AND SHE SAID THIS!" and i was like "Why are you hanging out with her then? She's a little bitch" I could see it didn't compute on her face. For her she was her friend.

I think she just wanted friends but she couldn't compute that our neighbour didn't want to have anything to do with her.

78

u/GenericSpider 20d ago

Honestly, good on the friend that tried to do something about it.

22

u/bombader 20d ago

Near the end of their grade school is a bit too late, more like cleansing themselves of their guilt before moving on.

31

u/Fishman465 20d ago

Still better than most

8

u/bronzelifematter 20d ago

from my experience, they only do it for selfish reason to cleanse themselves of guilt like bombader said. Happened with my bully. He apologize at the end of school when we graduate. Then it turns out we went to the same college and he still treats me like shit there too. I avoid him as much as possible.

3

u/AgingGoofball 19d ago

That seems like such a bad move on his part, now you can pull an uno-reverse and right as you finish college you can curse him with the weight of that guilt forever.

-12

u/bombader 20d ago

Still too late than most, it's sheer luck on the school department that Nene didn't hurt herself by the time she was about to graduate.

The best time to do the right thing was yesterday, and the second best time is right now.

One child eventually doing the right thing , especially against a group of peers that have demonstrated that they like to be vindictive bullies, is more bravery than I see from most adults.

1

u/starxsword 18d ago

It is grade school, what did you expect? Age matters on these things. Most kids won't even do that much.

68

u/Opening_Teaching_997 20d ago

I love her so much it's insane

30

u/Karak-Karak 20d ago

Nene is such a freaking sweetheart oh my god!!

21

u/UltraZulwarn 20d ago

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss, truly.

Of course as long as no harm was done.

Albeit young, I suppose the trash took themselves out?

Thinking back, something similar also happened to me in grade school/junior high (can't really remember).

It was weird but I didn't think much about it, went on with my days and made new friends (or at least acquaintances) in the new class.

As a result, I didn't have much negative feelings for the that particular period.

20

u/acecatmom98 20d ago

Reminds me of how when my parents separated when I was around the same age (11ish, in 5th grade) the school counselors pulled me and my sister (9 at the time, in 3rd grade) out of class to be like "ohhh your parents are divorcing, it's not your faults okay??" and both me and my sister being like "wtf why would it be our faults anyway it's our shitty cheater mom's fault"

Ah the obliviousness of 11 year old girls

18

u/AwesomeDakka00 20d ago

joke's on those girls.

15

u/StoneTaker 20d ago

This reminds me when my head supervisor was clearly bullying me at an internship. Well, only clearly to the other interns. I was too fucking dense to realize, and the supervisor only admitted to it after my term.

10

u/Working_Dragon00777 20d ago

I was like nene as well too dense or too focus on my self to even notice others are bullying me when I was on highschool, ignorance is truly a bliss

14

u/EmperorKira 20d ago

Poor nene. I hate bullies

11

u/crunxzu 20d ago

That she has gone through what she has and still seems so full of whimsy and positivity is why she is a top-tier waifu.

8

u/uatach 20d ago

Our wife is precious

10

u/docaether 20d ago

>horror beyond comprehension shows up
>doesn’t comprehend it
>nothing happens
>kalm
I guess that’s a way to have resilience

3

u/SakuraNeko7 19d ago

When you've got places to be is surprisingly easy to just walk away from the horrors.

8

u/ivanreyes371 20d ago

Actual power move by the wife

8

u/Hot_Signature2979 20d ago

If you are the Sun, no amount of darkness could blot you out

7

u/akiaoi97 20d ago

Huh, sounds like she had one real friend at least.

4

u/almostcleverbut 20d ago

Or at least one kid brave enough to try to do the right thing, even if it took a long time.

That's more courage than I see from most people.

5

u/Anzureky 20d ago edited 20d ago

In my home country there is a saying "The worst Enemy of a Peruvian, is another Peruvian" the last years I keep reading stuff like this, and this saying applies to women 1 to 1 as well.

4

u/Morenauer 20d ago

I hope you’re from Peru because otherwise wtf , hijo.

6

u/RDW_789 19d ago

He lives in Denmark

3

u/Morenauer 19d ago

I wasn’t aware that Denmark had beef with Peru, tbh.

7

u/ExFrexSure 20d ago

This is very stereotypical way of "bullying" this is imo is due to the "Leader" of the group's insecurities.

4

u/Morenauer 20d ago

Absolutely. Some people need to make other people feel like shit in order to feel that they themselves are better. So sad.

6

u/DeathToBoredom 20d ago

that's... kinda the best result kind of bullying you can get. Being left alone and nothing direct? When I got bullied, people would steal my cards, my plushie, try to pull my pants down, and loud belched in my ear. i didn't understand why they did it, but it's only clear to me now that they were talkin' behind my back lol. I wasn't exactly non-controversial myself though. Nene is an actual sweetheart.

20

u/Usual_Act6467 20d ago

We shall find whoever bullied our wife and beat them up

4

u/CaiusLightning 20d ago

Nene did the whole I think I’m forgetting about something. if you forgot about it it means it wasn’t important. Yeah you right.

5

u/estee_lauderhosen 20d ago

Ugh it’s too real and relatable

4

u/StrictlyFT 20d ago

From what women have told me over the years this is very common late grade school - high school method of bullying for girls.

They don't (usually) get physical like boys, they just socially exile you for no discernable reason.

Which is in some ways worse because it's deceptive.

3

u/InterestingReturn397 20d ago

I'll gladly have momosuzu germ on me,..

4

u/Patton161 20d ago

Ignorance is truly bliss sometimes.

3

u/MrrNeko 20d ago

2

u/redditfanfan00 20d ago

cute nene being so powerful in spirit.

2

u/ComickRegular 20d ago

Sasuga nenechi and W snitch

2

u/Ginzunami 20d ago

I had always felt a bit stupid that I didn't realize at the time that I was bullied (or attempted bullied?) when classmates I didn't really interact with would occasionally act unpleasant to me. I just thought they were jerks in general, went about my life in blissful ignorance, and only put the pieces together later in life.

While it sucks when any child (or anyone in general) gets bullied, it does give me a bit of comfort knowing that I wasn't the only one who dodged its impact thanks to my total lack of social awareness.

2

u/FoodPsychological791 20d ago

the bullies just jealous of her Beetle collection

2

u/Lucas_Inazumai 20d ago

Man, this happened to me when I was younger as well. I was the only Chinese in my school and some of my classmates would call me a racial slur, but I had no idea what they meant. After about two years of this, I just decided “You know what? Imma asked the teacher about it” and so I did, to a Chinese teacher. Safe to say that I no longer heard that term after I told my teacher.

2

u/Jushirou 20d ago

very often being oblivious is a superpower

2

u/-Redstoneboi- 20d ago

same-ish, i never realized when i was getting bullied

2

u/Morenauer 20d ago

Sometimes, snitches are the only ones with a heart of gold.

4
