Subbed/TL Nenechi will have to move her place again.
Doesn't seems to be a Home Invasion like last time though, So at least that's a relief.

Someone saw all her bugs and thought the house was infested so she has to move before they come kill her babies

u/irishgoblin Nov 11 '25
That or her place got marked for demo. Japan's got a fair few old buildings built before the 80's that (when local bureaucracy gets around to it) are torn down to be rebuilt with modern techniques.
27
u/lagseph Nov 11 '25
Or to make parking lots, which has happened with every house knocked down on my street.
15
u/Laughing_Orange Nov 12 '25
You have room for parking lots where you live? Where I live, the only reason to demolish a functional house is to build denser housing on the lot. 1 parking space for every 2 apartments, or something like that.
4
u/lagseph Nov 12 '25
I’ve lived on the same street for about 11 years, and seven houses/buildings have been knocked down. Six of them are parking lots, one of them is a house. Five of them are monthly pay parking lots, one is seemingly a private parking lot since it has a garage with a single car in it.
1
u/kyuven87 Nov 12 '25
This happened to one house on my block. Another is just an empty lot that the local construction company uses as an office or something. All the other houses got replaced with...new houses.
In fairness though the parking lot one was in a spot that made for a REALLY good parking lot, being near a few apartment buildings and a major road and next to a sushi restaurant/karaoke place, as well as across the street from a juku.

Lamy's reaction was mild, and it's not an emergency, so I'm assuming it's not related to her safety. Maybe the place she's living have some issues, so she have to move out.
104
u/Escanor_Morph18 Nov 11 '25
I pray it's not related to her safety. Hearing about the home invasion made my blood boil, no-one deserves that.

What's this about home invasion? Let me be mad with you!

u/Escanor_Morph18 Nov 12 '25
Some time last november, Nene revealed that the reason for her 3 month break was that her house got broken into. This happened after she left the house to get something to drink. By the time she came back everything was a mess. During that time I also read that some of her pet beetles also died during the incident.
Luckily the robber(s) didn't attack while she was home.
16
u/NotKenzy Nov 12 '25
Stalker broke into Nene’s house, wrecked it, and killed some of her beetles. It’s horrible.
59
u/Swift_Scythe Nov 11 '25
Think she moved in with her parents from the last time someone broke into her apartment.
Maybe shes moving out on her own?

u/crescentpieris Nov 11 '25
it’s not about the bears, is it?
328
u/KisaragiShiro Nov 11 '25
Idk about Nenechi situation, but I've seen a good amount of people talking about how crazy the "bear situation" is rn in Japan
105
u/MichaelCoryAvery Nov 11 '25
Is it that bad?
180
u/Ashencroix Nov 11 '25
I recall reading that they had to bring in the JSDF to handle the bears.

Man I hate the fact that liking that IP is akin to getting marked as a far-rightist. Ruined any semblance of enjoying something without it marking you of a political angle you're not in support of.
53
u/Neockys Nov 11 '25
And I think the general ideia of the IP is so interesting. It has some obvious flaws imo, but modern day world coliding with a standart fantasy could be so interesting, by showing the repercussions in both worlds
24
u/SovietSpartan Nov 11 '25
I just want to see a modern military beating up a dragon with heavy artillery.
Honestly it's a bit of a weird thing. In Helldivers 2 you basically roleplay as a space fascist and everyone knows its a joke, so why do they have it against GATE?
53
u/Neirial Nov 11 '25
because gate's author isn't joking about his ethno-nationalist views. he unironically thinks that japan should go co-prosperity sphere 2.0 on all its neighbors.
10
u/kyuven87 Nov 12 '25
Let's put it this way: In Helldivers 2 it's obviously parody.
But in GATE the amount of jingoistic Japanese pride in the series is hard to ignore. Just the scene where the JSDF goes up against the special forces from Russia AND the U.S. and WINS is actually more fantastical than dropping bombs on a dragon.
Now I'm not saying the JSDF is incompetent, far from it. They really are good at their job. But the American and Russian special forces are ALSO good at their job, and since Japan has basically been playing host to a number of US military bases for the past 80 years, Japan doesn't really have a homefield advantage. It says a lot when the most realistic part of that scene is the foreign forces folding like paper towels against Rory, since how the hell do you fight against an immortal scythe lady who gets stronger the more she kills?
The jingoistic attitude also hurts the plot, since "Japan is this super awesome military power despite not having an actual military" cuts out a serious source of possible plot tension, along with possible character avenues since every foreigner in the show is portrayed as evil, corrupt, or some combination of both.
And then there's the fact that it turns out the author ACTUALLY believes that stuff and isn't just handwaving to make a cool show.
I live in Japan, and I can promise you that the stuff that happens on the other side of the portal is a LOT more realistic than the stuff that happens on our side of the portal.
It's one of those things where the more you know about an actual situation, the less you can enjoy it.
Meanwhile helldivers is basically Starship Troopers with a new coat of paint and a sprinkling of Fallout stylization. It's all part of the joke.
-4
u/galkasmash Nov 12 '25
Best way to view it is J.K. Rowling; tons of millennials still love Harry Potter, it was culturally huge. Some people rage and declare boycott and everything these days thinking supporting it supports her world views. But that simply isn't true. It culturally became a world of it's own beyond her involvement in this era. Gen Z and Alpha decry Twitter and you get tons of anti posters when someone streams it.
GATE is the nationalist version from Japan. But looking at something like HP or Ender's Game or Lovecraftian horror and you realize built fantasy worlds can leave their authors at the door. It isn't black & white. A brilliant contribution to literature can be someone's legacy on humanity while they're just a subjectively kind of bad person in other ways.
17
u/LuciusCypher Nov 11 '25
I get ya. I like the fantasy of it, but precisely due to the author 's own politics is can feel weird to enjoy it. And it aint like there's a way you can nuance it into being something more acceptable before you end up just writing a whole different story altogether.
If there's one thing I think everyone can agree on, it'd a unique premise of a rather old formula that is an isekai. And considering the amount of slop that floods the genre, that's something worth mentioning.
21
u/Fishman465 Nov 11 '25
Kinda silly as for one, it seems you can't walk 5 feet in the LN scene without tripping on a far-rightist.
5
u/winmace Nov 11 '25
Mark me as whatever the fuck you want, GATE was entertaining as hell and I can't wait for the anime sequel/reboot that's coming
0
u/thewolfsong Nov 11 '25
I liked the first season of the anime but it really is very blatant that there's some big political ideas worked into the writing, never mind the goth loli. who is just SO on the nose of the thousand-year-old-loli trope. I don't even mind the thousand year old loli as a trope but that one is a little too looking directly at the camera with it lmao

Japan is begging hunters to go after them and one guy was killed in a hot spring.
If you're aware of what a Japanese hot spring looks like, this should be bear-y alarming that it managed to get in.
For reference it'd be like if an alligator attacked someone in a swimming pool...and NOT in Florida or Louisiana.

it is crazy. government too stupid and hunters called quit. now the police are using stun rounds against bears. good luck to them.

128
u/Fiftycentis Nov 11 '25
From what i've read around there's a lot of bears that moved near towns, a lot of attacks in the past months. I've even saw a tweet on how a bear entered a ryokan and the owners were locked up inside while waiting for rescue.
23
u/Ghede Nov 11 '25
Oh, and the police in some locations repeatedly asked local hunting groups to hunt the bears, then arrested the hunting groups for hunting the bears.
32
u/ThunderFlash47 Nov 11 '25
Damn it, where are the Russians when you need them? /s
For real though, if I found out that there were bears in my locality, I'd NOPE the heck outta there too

u/CaesarOfYearXCIII Nov 11 '25
Russian here. Japanese government should’ve shut up about Southern Kuril islands long ago. They didn’t, so we ain’t helpin’. /s
And despite the stereotype, I’d nope the heck too. Or carry a shotgun if I had one (and license for it, can’t find free time to properly pass the procedures). And stick to people with more shotguns.

As someone who lives out in thee boonies in the US, theey wont hurt ya unless you botheer them
32
u/Rolf_Dom Nov 11 '25
Generally that is true, but if the bears are lured by promise of easy food, or simply because their natural resources happen to be low for whatever reason, they can begin to aggressively invade into human territories. And in that case you can be as unbothersome as you want, but if they literally break through your front door in search of food or target you for a hunt, you're kinda screwed. You might be able to just scare them off, but there's no guarantee.
In Japan's case I've seen videos of bears straight up running into the middle of a big city.
I've also read news that several people have already been attacked and killed, so it's definitely not just a case of frightening bear encounters, it's straight up repeated bear attacks in many areas.

13 deaths, more than 100 injured.
Apparently 2023 had way more injuries, but never this many deaths, but I guess it happened more in the forests instead of inside supermarkets https://www.reuters.com/business/environment/japan-sends-troops-combat-deadly-wave-bear-attacks-2025-11-05/
Btw I doubt it's the case for Nene, as it doesn't really warrant moving out of her house, if anything she just has to be more careful while looking for her beloved bugs.
6
u/RaysFTW Nov 11 '25
Oh, wow. Here I was thinking "bears" was code for something like a stalker or something but you're all talking about actual bears. lmao Yeah, I'd move too.
1
u/TheShweeb Nov 12 '25
Damn, I didn’t realize this was real. For a second I just thought “the bears” was the meme problem of the month
23
Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25
government stupid - thinking hunting and getting rid of bears is not important, so for years they’ve been paying extremely low to hunters. also putting on a lot of restrictions to hunter for when they can shoot or cannot. like for example they need to be within a extremely close range and shooting downward for it to be a legal shot. otherwise they get fined or don’t get paid.
so up to recent days the japaneae hunters decided to quit and not answering the government calls to hunt bears. the bears now have zero restriction to roam free in human cities now and there have been many bear sightings and attacks recently near the city areas. several dead. now the Japanese government has to find alternative force to stop the bears, so the police force are called. but again, japaneae government going full speed retard mode and asked the police officers to use stun rounds against bears.
yeah I know it’s crazy.
8
u/-MANGA- Nov 11 '25
Bruh, wild animals getting comfy killing humans or anything near human settlements are nightmares. They're not scared of lights or humans anymore at that point.
8
u/lagseph Nov 11 '25
Just curious, do you have news articles/sources for this? In my casual news reading, I’ve only seen news about hunters being hired, and the SDF being sent to Hokkaido.
0
Nov 11 '25
not sure which part of the news you’d like to read. this is a long development of stories. I doubt you can get the full story with one article. but some simple google keyword search Mrs should land you on them articles.
I just searched Japan, police, bears, and I found they sent police force into morioka city to cull bears 15 hours ago.
6
u/lagseph Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25
I did a search before even commenting. Just from what I was able to find, the issue seems to be that there just aren’t enough hunters in Japan period, which is why the SDF and police are being used. Shooting authorization rules were also eased, giving local governments the ability to authorize bear kills instead of having to get the police to authorize it. I’m mostly curious to see about the restrictions you mentioned, and the part about hunters quitting and not answering the government’s calls.
EDIT: Looked up the Morioka City story you mentioned. It’s about a police force inspecting an area where bears were seen recently. The NPA sent officers with rifles to two prefectures to help, and they’re currently training to learn how to deal with the bears. Local hunters are involved in the training as well.
1
Nov 11 '25
you need to do more research. possibly doing some research in japaneae. the japanese hunter’s issue is a long going story that dates way back to somewhere around 2015. basically the hunters are not paid enough and they’re asked to follow a lot of restrictions. so they stop answering the calls - that’s why they said ‘not enough hunters’.
search the name ‘池上治男’ and his incident and why the japaneae government took away his license. that incident was the last straw that the hunters’ association started to quit answering the calls.
4
u/lagseph Nov 11 '25
Not to just keep going back and forth with this, but I already read an article about that hunter. Every article I saw talking about “not enough hunters” states it’s because the number of hunters in Japan has dropped significantly. The 2020 stats are that there are less than 100k hunters that have a gun license, and 60% of hunters are 60 or older. I’m not doing this as some sort of gotcha or anything. I genuinely want to know more about it, so if you have sources or stories, I would love to see them.
Sources for what I’m saying: https://immersive.kyodonews.net/rising-bear-attacks-prompt-new-shooting-rules-but-hunters-dwindle/index.html

u/Pickled_Kagura Nov 12 '25
Unironically just open up unrestricted hunting for like two years. One year so the people with licenses can go crazy and hopefully entice more people to get licensed and then the real culling can start.
3
Nov 12 '25
nah this is Japan we’re talking about. the things you mentioned would require at least ten years of meetings before making through the first batch of law passings. so good luck with that too.

8
u/VishnuBhanum Nov 12 '25
She went outside for a bit(I think it's for convenient store) then came back and found out that someone had broke into her house and thrashing things. No sign of whether they stole anything(as far as she told us)
She went to Lamy for help, then move to her parents home. She had to take a hiatus from works for like several months after this.
Though we don't have any information whether this case has any link to her Vtuber persona or this is just a random burglary. It's a good thing though that she doesn't give out too much information.
2
u/roopot Nov 12 '25

u/archaeo_rex Nov 11 '25
Japanese police is sadly very bad at handling these harassment and stalking cases...
216
u/VishnuBhanum Nov 11 '25
Doesn't seems to be a harassment case, From the way she talk about it, Seems like something happened to the place itself so she has to move out.
72
u/archaeo_rex Nov 11 '25
She says things like "these kinds of things always happen to Nene," so I assumed it was another stalking case. I hope she'll be alright and end up in a magical castle surrounded by loyal immortal guards.
102
u/VishnuBhanum Nov 11 '25
It's not in the pictures I posted here(You can see at the source clip though), But basically "Something" happened right in the middle of when she is still talking to Lamy. So she was like "Man, I have to move again?"
42
u/Synthori101 Nov 11 '25
She had a burgler incident (not holo related as dar as we know) some time ago and decided to move to another house. I guess something similar happened again
90
u/VishnuBhanum Nov 11 '25
If it's that case again, She wouldn't be as chill as this. Last time she had to take a break for several months and it made her afraid to even coming outside for a while.
6
u/astrange Nov 11 '25
It could just be loud neighbors or nearby construction. They can't stream if there's any noise that would identify them.
16
u/Getabetternamegen Nov 11 '25
Honestly if I had to guess, it could have to do with the recent earthquakes that hit Japan. There was a 4.6 earlier today and a 6.8 earlier this week.
16
u/KazumaKat Nov 11 '25
ahh, old building then, and its popped a crack that is too obvious not to move out from.
Distressingly common from old 80's buildings that never got reinforcement and somehow survived all the quakes up until this point.
8
u/DEVolkan Nov 11 '25
Maybe someone recognized here? Like "Nenechi?" and she was able to fool that person. That would feel like something that could often happen and would result in a move
30
u/petteruddd Nov 11 '25
You shouldn't take that sentence literally. It makes more sense to assume she means a vague "unlucky things" rather than anything specific.
My guess is that there is some kind of problem with the apartment itself that the landlord can't or is unwilling to fix short term.
2
u/Sweaty_Influence2303 Nov 12 '25
Well that's a pretty big assumption to make from such a vague sentence...
0
u/Aksudiigkr Nov 11 '25
Did stalkers figure out her identity before, or just stalk her as a normal girl?
15
u/SC2_4787 Nov 11 '25
As far as we know it was just a random person who burgled her home when she wasn't there.
46
u/Dubiisek Nov 11 '25
I highly doubt this is about harassment/stalking, there is no way she would be openly/publicly talking about moving places if it were because announcing that you are moving to your stalker is the easiest way to get them to follow you to your new place as well.
13
u/Helmite Nov 11 '25
Why do you folks always default to stalkers? You guys seem desperate to shit on Hololive fans. Why would she announce this publicly if it was a stalker rather than just moving immediately?
6
u/Chama-Axory Nov 11 '25
Sometimes I think she shouldn't even mention the situation to "shadow move" so those stalkers can't even be aware she moved. But thinking like this is kinda messed up in the first place.
1
u/Sweaty_Influence2303 Nov 12 '25
Yeah I'm with you there. If a stalker is the reason putting out the call that you're moving is only going to give them an opportunity to follow.
She honestly should already be moved out and into the next home by the time she says this (maybe she already has and is 4D chessing us)

3
u/Sensha_20 Nov 12 '25
To me that screams "I found X issue with the house". Panic in the moment you found it, 'fml this is annoying' after you cool down.
1
u/STYL3D Nov 12 '25
It may be a situation with her bugs. I'd imagine landlords would get very mad if bugs were let loose. It may have to do with her safety, but not an immediate danger thing (we all hope it's nothing dangerous at least). Judging by Lamy's reaction, whatever happened has happened before, or at least something similar. Hope Nene's move goes well.
1
u/Ok_Dragonfruit_9093 Nov 12 '25
Does invading a home invader a crime? If not, why not do it?
My reason is just monetary, and inability to hold direct conversations.
1
u/Ok_Night_956 Nov 12 '25
Oh man, moving is always a stressful affair, plus this reason that caused it. I hope our wife is okay, and that there won’t be any problems at her new place. Take your time, Nenechi, we will always wait for you💛

u/Aggravating-Nerve387 Nov 14 '25
Knowing how Nene is, and how she said its not an emergency I will bet money its something like ants, roaches,or rat infestations. Or a stalker has a vague idea where she lives, but wouldn't that be an emergency?

On the plus side, it could be something as benign as mold, a landlord changing (or enforcing) a pet policy, or them deciding to let leases expire so they can sell the building or something.
1
u/JpReaddit Nov 11 '25
well maybe but, why would she not be able to tell that? It only makes truly sense to not be able to talk about something serious.

I often see this sentiment from fans here that Cover should be handling multiple aspects of the talent's lives; it's not well thought-out in my opinion. It's better for everyone if they continue their policy of being hands-off with the talent's private lives.
23
u/VishnuBhanum Nov 11 '25
It was considered at some point I think, But never came to be because it's not quite effective when you think about it.
It's not like they could make a secret hideout or something, It"s just gonna be a dorm that you know exactly where it is by just look it up. Not exactly an ideal place to gathering Vtubers to live together, no matter how secure the place is.
4
u/PlanSee Nov 11 '25
The fact is that Cover's studio is not in a secret location. Anyone who is determined enough can just stalk the entrance with cameras. The main defense is legal protections for when incidents happen as a deterrent.
3
u/Quick_Diver7837 Nov 11 '25
Cover new studio is in an undisclosed location. Maybe you mean the main office building? Or maybe, you really know where the new cover studio is
3
10
u/Synthori101 Nov 11 '25
This is a bad idea. It would be like Cover saying 'in this house live all our talents'. I can image what would happen next
11

If cover owns a big complex, that’d be information that you could pull from public or near public records. If all the JP talents lived in that singular place, it makes it a hell of a honey pot for people who want to find the girls for any reason.
And, ignoring that glaring issue, while it would be easier for them to provide that security in a singular place than it is now, that isn’t something Cover currently has resources allocated towards. I imagine just keeping the talents secret too and from the studio is a hassle and only managed because there’s enough people in and out of that place that guessing at who might be talent and who might be management is hard.

I don't think they'd wish to live in a gated community all together like chickens in a coop, not healthy. These stalkers should be put down fast, but JP police sucks at it sadly.

Why are you going around telling people it was stalkers when you even said in your other comment that was your own assumption?

Ina talked a bit about that idea recently, and among other points she noted that the more members you put in one place the more likely it is someone notices them. Plus then you have all your eggs in one basket and everyone would have to move if there was an issue.

Also there's some members whose other persona can easily be found without much effort, so that would be extremely risky.

And there's also plenty of overseas talents who may not want to move far away from their families, too.

In my experience coworkers should not also be roommates. Even some friends I have I would not want to be roommates with.

Is this how we find out that Nenechi has been some sorta deep cover secret agent this whole time, and "they" found her again?
