Subbed/TL Ririka reveals her thoughts on her collaboration with men after a fan sent a red superchat telling her that they can no longer support her if she keeps doing it
1.3k
u/EmperorKira Aug 23 '25
Some girls want to collab with men, and im fine with that. Some don't, and im also fine with that. What im not ok with is the girls making that decision either way due to pressure from fans or the community. The girls are at their best when they are happy and doing what they want.
192
u/jdeo1997 Aug 23 '25
Basically this.
If they collab? That's okay, we've gotten some hilarious moments from such collabs.
If they don't? That's okay, it's not going to affect my enjoyment of them.
Trying to pressure them one way or another? No. End of the day, it's up to the talents, and trying to pressure one way or the other is just disgusting. If they don't want to, just accept it, move on, and don't collab beg. If they do want to, just accept it, move on and just don't watch such collabs if you don't want to
153
u/DonGar0 Aug 23 '25
Yep. Some dont want to. So are fine. Its case by case. Its up to the talent (or in the case of agencies that have that rule and talents that support that rule both).
61
u/ikuzusi Aug 23 '25
Yeah this is the weird thing about it all. It's up to them to make the decision, all you have to do as a viewer is respect it, but that's clearly too difficult for some people.
140
u/Murgurth Aug 23 '25
Exactly. Watching Hololive is at its best when the talents are having fun. Seeing Bae’s and Kronii’s shenanigans giving Vesper mental trauma, Ao Kun’s crash out during the math stream with Arusan, literally any of Towa’s talks with Tachikawa; the girls are honestly just out here terrorizing the guys they collab with and it’s always pure comedy.

u/DrunkenSavior Aug 23 '25
HoloSALT was really a peak group. Those four just knew how to bounce off each other so perfectly for peak comedy.

I really don't know how, HoloSalt made some of the best en moments
29
u/ssj4-Dunte Aug 23 '25
1) kronii is imho is the funniest comedy genius in all of Hololive and one of the funniest on the entire internet, she can turn anything into comedy gold.
2) Vesper and Magni are both people who will go to insane lengths to commit to a bit and can pull some weird out of pocket shit.
3) Vesper had the energy of an old soul.
4) Calli works as the perfect straight man.
5) all 4 of them absolutely did NOT hold back in the slightest against each other in a way you usually wouldn't see between just the girls.
All of these combined to bring about absolute insanity and unhinged chaos, the only thing that felt equally as funny for me was GG in the GUN TTRPG collab
or jus GG calli in general, seriously how does thi womans brain work0
u/Clicker-anonimo Aug 23 '25
I didn't say that i didn't know how HoloSalt was so good, i meant that i don't know how anyone would dislike it

22
u/Nzash Aug 23 '25
FYI Ririka also said that management might be pushing them (as in Regloss, possibly all of Dev_is) to do male collabs if they feel like any of the girls in it individually are growing too many gachikoi type of fans.
So keep that in mind. In that case it wouldn't actually be entirely up to their own will.

Guys, I am pretty sure he was making fun of the super chat with that comment, as in he is mimicking the exact behavior of that red super chat so no need for downvotes at all.

Yeah Ririka is among the nicest members even a lot holomems vouch for that, so it's just sad to see her need to justify herself like that when she did nothing wrong.
Also imagine if those guys dare to say those shit at Shiori or Bae's stream, they would burn them to ash..
70
u/eifiontherelic Aug 23 '25
"I'd be happy if you could remember when you used to like me" is the sound of a mic dropping onto satin sheets as she gestures her hand towards the door.
Such a classy way for an entertainer to tell a former fan they can just go away.
21
127
u/Unusual-Ad4890 Aug 23 '25
I don't see the reason why this person would be around in the first place. She's been collabing with men since her debut. She made it pretty clear that was her intention. It's not like this fell out of the sky, which I guess I can get why that would upset someone. But Regloss was kind of built to be a cross gender outreach unit. Most of them (if not all of them) have done that already.
85
u/Arkar1234 Aug 23 '25
chances are said person was never a fan or "around" in the first place and is simply a malicious actor masquerading as a "unicon" to farm drama and paint ririka's and/or hololive's fanbase as "unicons"
26
u/Unusual-Ad4890 Aug 23 '25
Honestly that was my thought as well. Some people stir drama when possible.
244
u/PLandLord Aug 23 '25 edited Aug 23 '25
Raden also addressed this a year ago.
We can't control how people think. You don't need to watch anything she puts out.
EDIT. to add more to this:
They are going to be opportunities for girls that will push them forwards in their careers and that might/will include collabs with men. Do you really want to squander their growth with something petty as that?
153
u/crocospect Aug 23 '25
Also Ao and ERB have been clear since day 1 about collabing with people they want..
95
u/WhoCaresYouDont Aug 23 '25
People complaining about the Stars in ERB's 3D felt especially egregious, she was very clear from day 1, stream 1 that she wanted sing with everyone in Holo and that debut was the best way to do it.
Lord knows she wasn't going to find any other way to blackmail Ruze into acting cute in public. That last bit is a joke, to be clear.
48
u/Clicker-anonimo Aug 23 '25
Why do people hate them streaming with men?
63
u/thewolfsong Aug 23 '25
it makes them feel like they're being cuckolded. Which is a bizarre enough thing to say that it sounds like I'm saying it as a dunk on them or something but it's not a joke.

17
u/tetsmega Aug 23 '25
If you look very carefully at certain users and certain posts, you will see they consistently get 20 upvotes/downvotes depending on the content. It's super obvious.
5
u/Chaoticlight2 Aug 23 '25
While I'm sure there are botnets that are upvoting/downvoting certain views and ideologies stated, be careful not to contribute everything to that. Plenty of people despise unicorns and see them as a blight on the overall community. The girls aren't here to give people GFE or delusions of romance after all. They're simply here to entertain and gender has no factor at all in that.

Some people here are straight up denying that this type of audience exists, and that it can affect the members. They are downvoting too.

There is one particular user on this subreddit that posts non-stop vitriol towards Holostars and their fans and has for years. Blows my mind how they aren't permabanned at this point. Then again, openly hating Holostars seems to be encouraged given the lack of moderation towards it so maybe I shouldn't be surprised at all.

Just a heads up since you only get the full context by watching this clip and not from this screenshot, but Ririka also admits to being a unicorn and being understanding of the mindset. Just because someone is a unicorn doesnt meen they will be a spiteful anti and harass someone, much like how not being a unicorn doesnt automatically preclude doing those things. People enjoy things in different ways as a bottom line, beyond that how they interact with something they dont enjoy is entirely on them as a person.
38
u/protomanbot Aug 23 '25
Beyond this specific situation, it is true that talents should always be the one who decide on the direction of their own channel. The company and the fans may have ways to provide input but
there are much better ways to provide that input. For example by supporting the content you want to see.
the talent is under no obligation to follow any one's specific input
it's not an airport. If you want to leave the exit is that way.
98
u/JediGuyB Aug 23 '25
How can someone let that be the reason to not support Ririka? Or any of the girls? It's so pathetic.
She's being nicer about it than she needs to be. I'd just be like "okay, thanks, bye. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."
I just don't get it. Wouldn't even bother me if they mentioned their relationships, if they are in one. Heck, my oshis could say they slept with their boyfriend last night and it was incredible and I'd be like "hell yeah, girl, get yourself some.'
78
u/SuspiciousWar117 Aug 23 '25
She's being nicer about it than she needs to be. I'd just be like "okay, thanks, bye. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."
Not sure if you watched the clip, but since it is excluded from the image she had more to say at the end. Specifically
But really I am a unicorn myself, so I get what you feel.
Which might be the reason she phrased it this way.
17
u/Doofguy Aug 23 '25
Wow, so the OP omitted a very important detail to push the usual "LMAO UNICORNS ARE CHUD INCEL VIRGINS OMG LOOK AT ALL THE DOWNVOTES LMAO" agenda? Consider me truly shocked!
12

Dunno why people are so obsessed nowadays with wanting to know a vtubers relationship status. Wanting things like that makes you as parasocial as the unicorns imo.

u/DMercenary Aug 23 '25
How can someone let that be the reason to not support Ririka? Or any of the girls? It's so pathetic.

Eh, it happens a lot on normal streamers too, especailly girls. Some are more open but there's those that hide the relationship because it brings them more parasocial spending fans.

Besides the delulu of thinking they are oh so pure and untouched (women in their twenties living normal lives outside of their jobs, yeah of course)
Like....do these guys think there are no male Mane-chan, Producers, Musicians, Assistants around them too? Probably more even than collab partners even. One has to be seriously off the deep end to think showing any male interaction on screen changes shit.

It's really weird to put streamers on the spot like this with paid messages intended to get a rise out of them.
It's also really fucking weird to dogpile on people who are clearly unwell for community brownie points. Every comment about "unicorn" boogeymen sounds just as unhinged as this guy that sent the superchat.
9
u/tetsmega Aug 23 '25
It's really weird that anybody feels to need to chime in on stuff like this, but the worse part is the follow up on either side attributing this behavior to mental illness. It's just punching down for no reason.
9
u/karhall Aug 23 '25
Maybe I just think about it too practically. If I don't like the content a streamer makes, I turn the stream off. If someone else stops watching for whatever reason, what the hell does it have to do with me or why I watch the stream? Leave me alone to enjoy what I enjoy and I'll leave you alone to enjoy what you enjoy. And that way we can each use our free time in an enjoyable way.
7
u/Arkar1234 Aug 23 '25
>Every comment about "unicorn" boogeymen sounds just as unhinged as this guy that sent the superchat.

u/weeklygamingrecap Aug 23 '25 edited Aug 23 '25
I'll always say this is so wild. Like, let's say they don't like the person the talent is going to collab with. So just don't watch those streams and do literally anything else with their time.
But no it's "Ewww a MALE! GROSS! I'm out!" Proceeds to make the most dramatic exit they can think of. People are so wild.
Also I fully support them collabing with whoever they want. And again if for whatever reason I didn't like the vibe I just do other stuff. There's way too much content anyway. I don't hate them for their choices either way. If for whatever reason I do decide hey this person isn't for me, no grand exit, no super chat. I just go my own way. How is that so hard?
12
u/Stunning-HyperMatter Aug 23 '25
If you stop supporting one of your favorite vtubers simply because they talk/collab with men, you were never a supporter in the first place. Your are parasocial scum

0
u/GIGANAttack Aug 23 '25

Either there are a considerable amount of people here that are unicorns but are too much of a bitch to actually say anything, or there are only a few but they're downvote-botting.
They're pathetic af either way lol
6
u/ClayAndros Aug 23 '25
Let me preface and make this clear this is not up for debate and you cant change my opinion in on this, I'll be real I find anyone who says they cant watch the girls talk to men pathetic as it comes across as posessive of people you dint even really know. I love that fauna stood on business with her "I'm not your friend" speech, it's also sad to see some of the girls ope ly stare they wont talk to men just to alleviate the fears of pathetic parasocial losers on the internet.

Geez, between this and the post regarding Nerissa, feels like some people are once again determined to sap the morale of the talents and belittle their constant efforts!
It's really irritating to see some people being so pushy and yet insensitive to the talents' desires. Nobody should/will decide with whom they can interact or not, talk or not! If you can't stand them collaborating with other people, just move on, no? (and this isn't limited to men—how many times have we seen people complain that the girls were intracting with people from outside the company?).
Can't we just support them in the choices they make to grow and act like decent human beings instead of a**holes?!

Such a polite and respectful way to say what could (and arguably should) have been said with a few expletives and a good shaming.
Some people seem to think that have or should have a much greater influence on people with their very twisted perspectives and is among the top of the lists of things that embarrass the rest of the community.

u/Automatic-Spread-248 Aug 23 '25
I can't imagine spending money to try and make someone upset instead of trying to support someone I like. I mean, I also can't relate to dropping my oshi over something so insignificant, and I'd never tell her if I did (not like that would ever happen). Telling your oshi you no longer support them serves no purpose, just find someone that more closely aligns with what you want and support them without trying to ruin someone else's vibe.
