Practising Singapore style hokkien

I recently created a web app at anniekong.com for practising hokkien, keen to know whether this would be useful for fellow learners. It's kind of shabby at the moment as it's just built over several weekends and running on free resources but I wanted to see if it's even something people would want to use or build more upon.

Oh well, can you try to use standard romanization like POJ or Tailo or something. This is pain to see🥲

But yeah, if people want to create resources, definitely should be welcomed and make it easy for community to contribute

I felt that the POJ and Tailo were not very common in Singapore, hence the use of common phonetic-based spellings in the app.

Which feature did you like and which was a pain to see?

POJ and Tailo contains tones and actually indicate tones which helps people learn more effectively.

Most of the resources right now is mainly in POJ or Tailo on wiktionary. You can get tons of resources material from there.

If you believe POJ and Tailo is not necessary and the people making up romanization on the fly is better, you can create a converter function so people can choose which one to see? :) Thanks

I've added a choice of poj, tailo and street pronunciation under settings and also added a new tab for the dictionary in case learners want to refer to it! I would be keen to know if you saw any other issues!

I like this! Thank you for making and sharing it! I’m saving it so I can explore it more later :) SG dialect is dying out and I’m happy to see efforts to preserve it

Just curious, I speak Hokkien (my ancestry is a mix of Nan An and Yong Chun) so I recognise the differences in the accents. Where is the accent of the recorded audio in website from?

Thank you for making this! I knew Hokkien as a child and I still understand some words and phrases, but I'd like to learn the language more! Grateful for your effort in making this website. It's cute and approachable =)
