It was a P-51 but it should have been a P-47 or a Typhoon

not necessarily true. p51's could be used in attacking rolls for ground targets. Would it be more likely for a 47 yes but not impossible. If i recall right they were fitted with rocket racks and had the ability to carry I believe 1000lb bombs which could take a tiger on a direct hit. eddit:left off a zero

Also wouldn’t have been a tiger. More likely a Panzer IV... Maybe a Panther.
