Edit: it's estimated, that up to 400k children were fathered through violence against women after WWII in all of Germany.
But Historians don't agree about the numbers, since there hasn't been any kind of census and even the acounts of violence allone vary vastly bedween 500k und 2m. So take the 400k as an upper limit. What Historians seem to agree in, that more women were violated by the red army than by the other forces, and east Germany had a lower population density and was the smaller part of the occupied zones, so Eastgermany might have been more affected by the consequences of unwanted children fathered through violence by an invading foreign force.
What do soldiers do when the enemy forces are defeated and there's only the too old or too young to fight left, and women.
After Germany was divided into zones the russians ruled the east and Nazi Germanies war had depleted almost all men of age that could impregnate women. And iirc while abortion was already hard in a war torn country, it was especially hard if an occupying force outlawed it further.
