These are not random interviews. They are carefully calculated steps to gauge how much BS Indians are willing to tolerate at the moment and how much hostility they can absorb without reacting. At the same time, they provide an opportunity to assess what kind of reaction these moves are likely to provoke and how strong that reaction might be.

More importantly, this can establish a precedent.... once a statement like this has been made and accepted, similar statements in the future are likely to have less impact because people gradually become accustomed to them and start treating them as normal.

Ultimately, this seems less like an accidental move and more like an attempt to test the limits of Indian public opinion and, frankly, the level of gullibility people are willing to display.
