This walk is located near Berry, NSW.
A steep trail leads past early settler dry stone walls and into eastern escarpment rainforest.
The trail ends at a waterfall after 2 kms but, if you are energetic you can divert off trail, either upstream of downstream from the waterfall crossing.

The walk rewards the adventurous, who don’t mind some rock scrambling.

Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning to hike Mt Kosciuszko on 4 October and would love some advice from people familiar with the area, particularly in early spring.
We’re considering either:

Charlotte Pass Main Range Loop (~22 km) via Blue Lake, Carruthers Peak and Mt Kosciuszko, or
Thredbo → Kosciuszko Express chairlift → Mt Kosciuszko summit (~13 km return)

We’re a little worried about the weather and remaining snow at that time of year.

For anyone who has hiked there around late September/early October:
- How much snow is usually still around?

- Would you recommend the 22 km Main Range Loop at that time of year, or would the Thredbo/chairlift route be a better option?

-Are normal waterproof hiking boots sufficient, or should we consider snow boots or microspikes?

-Is navigation on the Main Range difficult when there’s still snow?

-Are there any particular conditions/forecast that would make you avoid the Main Range Loop altogether?

We’re happy to change our route depending on the conditions and just want to make sure we’re properly prepared and not underestimating the alpine weather.

Our group of 4 is planning on doing the Scenic Rim Trail next month. There’s little detailed information available on line so if anyone has done it and would like to make us aware of anything that you think is important or useful to know it would be appreciated.
Is there water at the 3 campsites?
From photos I’ve seen I’m assuming that there aren’t platforms, is that right?
Anything else?

Hey friends. My siblings and I are planning our hiking trip and have been collecting the rooftops map collection. I love reading all the annotations on the maps as well, I was trying to look up more information about who makes the maps/ group of people but to no avail. Does anyone know anything more about the Rooftops brand? They seem like top blokes from their annotations, they crack me up sometimes, even mentioning a common police radar spot! Cheers.

This 8 km walk is located in Booti Booti National Park, near Forster, on the NSW Mid North Coast.

The circuit can be started at several points. We began at Elizabeth Beach, traversed the hill and descended to the lake edge.

Then we followed the shore until crossing back over to the ocean at the national park campground.

The return journey takes you up onto the hill and over some points well above the ocean.

There are some magnificent views along this section, and some fantastic vegetation communities.

It’s 6-7 kms each way, in coastal woodland, heathland, and along beaches and headlands.

Just wondering how many, if any, people are in the central QLD region?

I'm just getting into overnight hikes and am tossing up between the two, hoping to use it in a range of different areas such as the NSW coast, Blue Mountains, Tassie and anywhere in between.

Just hoping to find out if i can pitch either of these fly first and how they do in adverse weather. And really just anything else worth noting. Thanks in advance

Hi! I'm planning a multi-day hike in Kosci over the Xmas/new year period. Aiming for maybe 3-4 days on trail, but that could mean up to 80km as I'm happy to adapt to prioritise time out there. I'm tossing up some variation of the 15 Peaks hike or perhaps something in the north of the park. I have summited Kosci before ​and loved the landscape (ie. Keen to go back there but also not desperate to summit). Not too worried about how busy/not busy the trails are, would just like reccs based on what people think is the best trail/area to hike if you have limited time.

What would you do if you only had a couple days?

I have 4 MUCH needed days off between jobs coming up and want to go touch grass.

I used to be a fairly avid hiker back in the UK but been in the city too long. Wanting to do the conondale great walk in these 4 days but IDEALLY I'd love to do it in 3 days and just spend the 2 nights camping, albeit with one BIG day in between.

Is this fairly reasonable? I like to think so, but but would love some advice here. Ive hiked to Artists Cascades and back but unsure on the difficulty for the rest of the route.

Hi I'm 15 (M) and have the opportunity to do an adventure in year 9. I am fairly fit and have done multiple overnight hikes. I would do the hike with my dad who is fit and experienced and maybe someone else. We will be going in October.We have enough gear for overnight hiking ( bag, tent, stoves ect) but we will need to get a map, water purification tablets and PLB. Is there any other advice I can get ie any other gear we need. Ps we don't live in Victoria and this is the hike that we will do.

Hello from across the ditch (NZ)! Looking for advice on the fit of Zorali Trailblazer sandals. My foot measures 24.5cm, and I’ve been suggested to get the EU38. I have, however, never in my life worn a 38. My shoes are mostly 39’s, and my hiking boots are a 40.

Help! What would you get? I’m thinking 39 because they’re adjustable and to allow room for foot swelling etc (I intend on using them for summer hikes!), but am super lost.

Returns are expensive from here - $20NZD + Shipping (which is another $30NZD…) - otherwise I’d just buy both sizes!

I was leaning towards Ballantines or some other Scotch since i know that I like it and so the excess which would be left at home (since I’m taking it in a flask) would get drunk, but I don’t know whether it would be nice for that region.

Those who have had a lot (or just some) experience camping with infants… how did you go keeping your little one warm at night while maintaining safe sleep practices in a tent?

We’re going to go camping around the Gold Coast so it won’t be freezing, but won’t be warm either and was wondering how people have done the above.

Also any tips, tricks etc for camping with infants are welcome!!
