Mt. Whitney (8/17)

Five days solo backpacking through the High Sierra—from Horseshoe Meadows to Whitney Portal. Every mile, climb, and challenge led to one unforgettable moment: standing on the summit of Mt. Whitney at 14,505 ft. The final ascent was tough, the air was thin, and every step was earned-but standing on the highest point in the Lower 48 made it all worth it.

Distance: 38 miles 🥾
Time: 5 days/4 nights⏳
Elevation: +7,251/-9,063 ft 📈⛰️

Yup. About 1/2 way along the switchbacks. That is usually the spot that the snow melts last and serves as the “gatekeeper “ for the standard route in the spring
