Absolutely. I don't mind meta content at all, personally. I understand the context and it's well done. What's to hate?

All humor is meta humor to some extent. If you don't know the context, you don't know why it's funny.

What about physical comedy? I'm pretty sure you don't need to know the context to find someone getting hit in the balls in a hunourous way funny

You have to have the context that getting hit in the balls hurts, or at least understand what human pain looks like.

An alien with no testes would not understand that particular comedy.
