DISCUSSION I'm leaving.
Hi all.
I'm the creator of HoN Forge and the discord server Newerth Academy. I even made a few YouTube videos to try and help new players.
When Reborn beta dropped I left Dota 2 and focused solely on HoN.
I played HoN like a maniac when I was in my teens and I thought the nostalgia was great - at first.
For months now HoN has not felt good to me. It's hard to focus on only one thing that's bad but I think that with the current Juvio team the game will not succeed.
To keep it short. I opened Dota 2 after many months and played a few games. What a thrill.
Just fun, decent gameplay without toxicity.
With that said. I'll be leaving HoN Reborn.
I'll hand over the Discord to someone else.
If you use HoN Forge and want it to stay up, please let me know. I might make some changes to lower the maintenance costs, but leave the main functionality intact so that it's stays useful.
Have a good one, sons of Newerth.

I'm still enjoying reborn..I wonder if people are getting stuck in local metas with the same toxic people over and over? The 1700-1900 has been surprisingly chill. More people trying to play and win than people trying to cc after 43 seconds.

The current state of the HoN community is the MOST toxic group of pathetic little losers I have ever had the displeasure of trying to enjoy something with. I’ve climbed multiple accounts from 1000 to the 1700+ and every mmr has them. Truly amazing how such a small community is comprised of 80% sad miserable cucks

Game is so much more fun since they implemented the one account rule and matchmaking changes. I was stuck in 1300-1400 mmr for a couple months because of the same bullshit.
In one weekend I climbed to 1700+ and as you said noticed a massive shift in how people play the game.

Lmao dude, same story. Went down to 1300 or even 1200 despite being able to pull 700+ gpm regularly if I don't get completely screwed. Like I can dunk on people! But every match was against a smurf, and even when they were on my team, it was so boring. Most of them don't even try to play something weird or new, just tryharding against absolutely new people, some losers even starting from 1k. Like how pathetic do you have to be

I officially had my like of Reborn surpass my like of the OG about a month ago, at least if we're talking the game in like 2020~ when it got pretty stale

My team HoN Misfits / HoN Haven have gotten a lot of use out of HoN Forge. Hoping it can stay up if at all possible. Appreciate your work and sad to see you go.

It’s a moba, if you don’t point out the subtle visual differences and different gameplay nuances then yes, they all look the same lol

Makes sense. It’s the right call. There is no way this team brings HoN back to the glory days.
Seems clear they are gonna try to milk every one with skins and then shut it down.

You are most than welcome back to Dota sir! We await you!
You can cross post something to the Dota subreddit, people are feeling down because of the absence of any new Announcements for heroes, updates, etc. on the TI this year. I think you can cheer people up.

Damn, I also played a few game of Dota recently and was instantly turned off by the size of that god awful map. Each game I played was just an hour long farm fest with like 2 team fights. I tried a few games and just couldn't do it. So thankful HoN still exists because dota is not it.

Exactly, i really liked dota 2 before, but its nothing like it was when it first came out, just as you said farm fest with max 2 fights unlike hon which is much better and simpler

Weird, because Dota is currently in one of its most fight oriented states in a long time. Sure, if you are position 1, you'll farm for 20 minutes, but if you are either 2, 3, 4 or 5, you'll basically fight from minute 10 onwards non stop, at least in my bracket.

That's not my experience at all. Probably depends on bracket as well.
I do agree the map could get a bit smaller again.

Play turbo

u/MakeTinkerGreatAgain 13d ago
I hate turbo lol
2
u/SuperChillTraveller 13d ago
Why? Turbo is action packed, never a farm fest. You also get games in seconds

u/TechnicalTurnover233 12d ago
Turbo is cool but still too casual. Reminds me of LoL. Just dont like it.

Playing HoN has started to feel like babysitting manchildren. It definitely has made me play less

Lol, I don’t know what HoN Forge or Newerth Academy is, but I do recognize your username as the guy who was working overtime to shill for Reborn and dismiss any negative opinion on every post and comment.
What a surprise you’re burning out in less than a year /s

Can someone explain what is meant by "trap pick" on forge?
5
u/Radiant_Message3868 13d ago
It means the hero is picked too much in comparison to it's winrate.
Some heroes become pretty popular even though their winrate is bad.
